Draft Position certainly means something, obviously guys drafted higher have more talent (on draft day) than the guys drafted below them. And by more talent i mean better equiped for the NHL.

Now, over the last few years player development and scouting plays a huge role and while draft position is still important to determine talent, the progress of all picks is between the players, junior coaches, and NHL trainers of the teams who picked those players.
