I don't see why that isn't standard practice, really.

Because the leafs as a franchise are pitiful.
Maybe I'm wrong and they've always done this but I don't think that's the case...

they seemed to do that in Detroit. it's why they were okay promoting Jeff Blasmail
i think it's an excellent way to develop the kids.
This is what I remember reading about Detroit and their prospects all seem to transition quite well when they are given the chance.

What helped with Blashill is that he started off as Babs' assistant when he first left WMU. Then he took the Griffins job after a couple years.
I think most organizations want parallel systems ran at the NHL and AHL levels so call ups are ready to play when needed.

the issue there is helping development. If the NHL club lacks high-end talent and runs a super defensive system do they really want to be stifling young players flare just to ease transition to the big club?

Blashill officially named the new coach of the Wings...no surprise.

Odd ice times for the Lightning in such an important game.
Cedric Paquette 15:15
JT Brown 13:00
while
Kucherov 15:00
Tyler Johnson 15:30
Drouin 8:00
Given they were behind, you would think they would be rolling scoring lines. weird choice.

Callahan-Paquette-Brown became their defensive matchup line throughout the series. Paquette didn't cover up Keith when he got that rebound goal though.
I don't know if it has come out yet but Johnson had to have to been playing hurt. He was a non-factor in the series. Kucherov probably wasn't 100% either. The fact Cooper played Stamkos-Filppula-Killorn for 20+ minutes is all you need to know about how beat up and ineffective the Triplets were in this series.

This is what stinks about this time of year...guys sell out and play through a lot but some of them are basically a ghost ship on the ice. Johnson with a bum wrist limits him more than having to matchup against Keith or Seabrook.

Coach coop should have known about said injuries and made adjustments.
What the fuck was morrow even playing for? The guy was trash all playoffs. Nesterov was pretty brutal too from what I've read.

Nesterov has the major mistakes that stick out in your mind - but I believe he's actually a positive difference driver & no-doubt he's amazing on the PP.
Morrow was balls - no denying that.
I am amazed that Chicago won this series with so little production from Kane & Toews.
But this series was won by the depth & D of Chicago. Keith Definitley deserved the MVP.
