I kinda like Seguin... so its tough.

I don't think he has Kessel's skill.. but he's VERY complete and incredible natural up the middle of the rink... a stud in the making IMO... I'm not saying 35+goals 100pts... but 30g/70pts ...

Awesome article about Recchi and his mentoring of Seguin, Stamkos, Staal, and Crosby.

"In that respect, Recchi said Seguin is a bit better off than No. 1 overall pick Taylor Hall.

"There's a lot of pressure on Taylor Hall to go [to Edmonton] and be an impact player right away," he said. "Seguin can come in and he can learn and grow and be part of a good hockey team, and I think that's very important for the development of a young kid."

Where would Stamkos, Staal and Crosby be without the legendary tutelage of Mark Recchi? Thank god for good ol #28, half the talent in the league has Rechs to thank for where it is today, you just know Seguin is gonna be the real deal with Rechhi there to teach him the ways of the universe.

Even though you have no emoticons to suggest your sarcasm, it is very evident. It was a good article, simple.

After reading that article, I actually feel a bit bad for Kaberle. Hes a dedicated guy to the city and the team and Big Mouth Burke is nothing but a fucking media pig.

I think some leaf fans are harping on him for no reason. Hes a great player, served us well and loves the team/city. The fact of the matter though is the team is going in a new direction, as much as he wants to be a part of it he doesn't fit extremely well into it. He also never showed him self as an off ice and locker room leader. If thats the case then it makes sense for the team to try to get the best value for him, as unfortunate as it is for him personally. I think he is a fantastic player and genuinely hope he does well where ever he goes (as long as its not in the north east really). Burke is a big mouth, but he knows how to work the media to try and make the best of the situation. Other GMs have come to Toronto and fallen apart from the pressure of the media, now instead we have one using it to his advantage or at least trying. IMO Kaberle lost a step after that jansen hit, just haven't seen the same creativity and risk taking since.

Burke owes Kaberle nothing...It's his job to do what's best for the Toronto Maple Leafs, not Tomas Kaberle, if a trade involving Kabs nets a return that better helps this club moving forward he has to make it. Besides, Burke has treated Kaberle with nothing but class this entire time, he refused to ask him to waive his NTC during three consecutive deadlines and maintained that he would need to be blown away to deal Kaberle, not shopping him but rather listening to offers for him, which is no different than any other player on the Leafs.

Blocking a trade for Jeff Carter is a good a reason as any to harp on Tomas Kaberle. I don't care if it was well within his rights or not, it was Jeff fucking Carter! I cry a little every time I think about it (man tears obv), and then theres his performance in the latter half of last season. It was clear to everyone watching that Kaberle gave up on this team, and I have no respect for anyone who does that, nevermind someone who makes upwards of 4 million dollars a season to play a sport they love.

Why blame him for his ability to enforce his contractual rights? His agent and the GM negotiated it, blame the GM. Not his fault, he genuinely loves playing here and while he isn't a leader he hasn't said shit about the city ever. He takes it all in stride, and hes been a great Leaf. I can see you as the kind of guy who'd boo even the legends out of town, hes put on the maple leaf sweater for 11 years. He also is on a cheaper contract that he likely deserves.

I will cheer for the good of the Toronto Maple Leafs over any individual player, it's unfortunate that their are fans who value the interests of individuals over the team. Have I ever booed Tomas Kaberle? No, but I was certainly upset when he vetoed a deal to improve this team team, not once, not twice, but three times (that we know of). It's clear this team doesn't value Tomas Kaberle as a core piece, or even a piece they want to keep in the long term, as demonstrated by multiple trade proposals dating all the way back to 2000. Yet Tomas Kaberle refuses to take the message, worse yet he is a no show for the second half of last season...If you want to cheer for someone who doesnt care enough about this team to give a 100% effort each night that is your perogative, not mine.

Bruins could have a disgruntled player in Savard...first time he has spoken to media this year.

Boston C Marc Savard told the Ottawa Sun all the trade talk surrounding his name hasn't been easy to deal with after he signed a seven-year, $28-million extension last December. "They hurt me a little bit just because I went to Boston and I helped to build that team back up," Savard said in an interview Friday -- his first public comments since the rumours surfaced. "Since I've been there, I've really tried to work hard with the young guys and being a core player. I was really focused on staying there for the rest of my career. To hear all this stuff this summer bothered me inside more than anything else." Savard expects to return to Boston. "Right now I'm a Bruin and that's the way it is," he said. "(But) it's been tough." It doesn't look like Savard will be headed to Toronto for Kaberle.

It would be ideal if the Leafs could acquire his rights, but I see the Ottawa Senators as the more likely suitor at this point, still it's nice to fantasize about,

Nikolai Kulemin - Marc Savard - Phil Kessel
Nazem Kadri - Tyler Bozak - Kris Versteeg
Fredrik Sjostrom - Christian Hanson - Colby Armstrong
Chris Brown - John Mitchell - Colton Orr

Dion Phaneuf - Tomas Kaberle
Luke Schenn - Carl Gunnarsson
Mike Komisarek - Francois Beauchemin

J.S. Giguere
Jonas Gustavsson

/end fantasy

LOL. Komi is a top pairing D-man, definitely not bottom pairing. And its not like he's so old that playing his is riding an old dog.

Second and third pairing will get similar minutes, so it's not a big deal.
