it's getting to the point where i think it's effecting my health. im thrilled to get 5 hours of sleep a night.

also, time is going by so fucking fast. this past year has easily been the fastest of my life.

am i gonna make it bbkl?
Sounds like a grind, but hard to feel sorry for you when we are freezing our asses off up here in Canada and you are involved with hockey and living in California. What's the plan after your done your masters?
rink ownership has promised me a decent raise and the "director of rink operations" position when i finish school which is nice short term (and fall-back option) but im really hoping this kings internship leads to something down the road.

Being involved with an NHL team in any capacity would be a sweet gig. When applying to schools in the past I considered going to Laurentian since they offered a Sports business administration program, but decided being that specialized would probably work against me since it would likely be extremely difficult to break into professional sports.

it's not QUITE as glamorous as it seems. I mean on my office days I sit in a cubicle making phone calls and fucking around in excel as I would any other company. however, there are definitely moments that make it all worthwhile. i watch warm-ups from the zamboni tunnel. im finished working by mid-way through the 2nd during games so I just choose a tunnel and watch the second half of any game i want - get to see CHI tonight for example. we had a meet the players event on thursday after the PHI game so i hung out with mike richards and matt greene all night. then there's just something about driving into downtown LA and seeing STAPLES center appear in the distance from the freeway and knowing THAT'S where i get to work. that's very cool too.

my MBA has a focus in sport management. i wouldn't recommend doing an undergrad in it though because as you mentioned, it's quite limiting.

Very cool, Anton. I loved going to Staples when I lived there ... must be nice working there. What rink are you managing anyway? (Don't say Pickwick!)

Hi BBKL. I started my new job last week. I'm heading out the marketing at this cloud software company in Toronto. Things are crazy but I'm doing exactly what I want to be doing so I'm really excited.

Also, I'm super jealous of you Anton. Not sure exactly what you're doing for the Kings but that's a hockey fan's dream (especially if you get a ring).

Oh and I like this thread btw

i do a bunch of things in fan development/community relations but mainly i help run the kings fan loyalty program. season ticket holders build up points for doing various things throughout the season and can redeem them for experiences (riding the zamboni, skating on the ice before the game, watching warmups from penalty box, other cool shit). i organize these experiences and then meet up with each fan/group on game night and take them through it.
