Duchene should be 1st line winger. He's the fastest player on the team. Utilize that shit on the bigger ice.

They gotta get Duchene in. Take out one of MSL, Kunitz or Carter

I was absolutely okay with Kunitz making the team, but he looked so out of place today IMO.

Nash, Benn & Perry were easily our best wingers. Toews has gotta get his head up or at least respect the hitting of a few known players. Outside of Crosby and Bergeron we seemed to lose every draw.
MSL, Kunitz, Cater (ugh) and Marleau were all bumbling the puck and/or chasing the play.
Sharp was better than those 4, not notable like the fist 3. We need another play making winger up there, time to give Duchene his chance, feels already to me like we'll be missing G or another play-maker up front (Tavares on the wing?).
As expected our strength was our D, PieT and JayBo were reliable, fast and smooth. Keith and Weber were making plays, IMO Weber was the best player on the ice, highlighted by his goose-egg breaking slapper. Vlasic was replaced by hammer it seemed to my eye, have not checked the time-on-ice.

Agreed. He did not look good on that line at all. It's like the big ice takes away his ability to do what he does best in the NHL.
I didn't like the way Carter or MSL looked either. MSL was getting owned on the boards. He will get dominated by a team like the US. He's also more effective in the NHL environment I think where there's a different dynamic + the PP role is different.

Carter couldn't receive a pass, make a pass, stop a puck along the boards, or read a play defensively. Easily our worst player IMO. Kunitz looked like he didn't have any time, but at least he was in there, not our worst winger tonight by any measure (IMO).

Marleau - Getzlaf - Perry

This
i was always a supporter of kunitz on the team, but after today games i wish to veto that...
Kunitz or Carter out and Duchene in.
Duchene - Crosby - MSL
that should be our top line.

i was always confused why Carter was taken over Giroux tbh.

My takeaway from the game: the Canadian defense outplayed the forwards offensively. Weber and Doughty were strong. They'll get it together. Babs has too many combinations and he'll tinker until it all clicks.

I'd like to see:
Chris Kunitz - Sidney Crosby - John Tavares
Jamie Benn - Ryan Getzlaf - Corey Perry
Matt Duchene - Jonathan Toews - Rick Nash
Patrick Marleau - Patrice Bergeron - Jeff Carter
