Rumours from the NHL today include:
-Shanny likely to clean coaching staff in Toronto.
-No Trades will be made until he gets an idea of the teams direction and a new coach is hired.
-It's likely the leafs and Jets talk a trade around Kane and Kadri (potientinally Kadri + 1st (8th overall ish) for Kane + Clitsome)

The leafs have lost there identity. They need a GM who will define a brand and go after players that exemplify that brand. Then get a coach that has a system that takes advantage of players from that brand. May sound crazy but that is exactly what Chiarelli and Neely have done. People are on both sides of Kessel and Seguin deals but it is public knowledge that they didn't live up to the Bruins brand/style of how the game should be played. Sucks to see Seguin in Dallas exploding but he would never have had that opportunity in Boston. If Shanaban is given the keys, his hands may be a bit tied, but he does have a chance to do some great work. Its too bad some of those contracts are so long. Time will tell i guess. I have to give credit to Bergevin in Montreal. They may be smurfs but he has turned that team around and they are a legitimate threat. Adding a Vanek and Weaver at deadline is huge.

i tend to agree with this entire post.
The leafs have never had a GM and President on the same page, heck. It would be nice if we coudl find a pair that agreed on a coach as well.
But i agree. The leafs have no identity. A bunch of players with no system (for their style). If we're going to keep the fast paced team, we need someone who will let them play, if they want grit, well you better bring in different players. Either way, i dont think Randy's the guy here anymore. If he's back fans will freak.

Isn't Aki Berg busy being a badass politician in Finland? Like their president or something? Well he should be.

According to Chris Johnson of Sportsnet, Dave Nonis is expected to remain with the Maple Leafs under Brendan Shanahan.
