anyway, I think something is missing there, cause otherwise a team may theoretically lose a goalie, a defenseman, and 10 forwards... there has to be a strict limit (2?) on the max number of players a team may lose.

I'm hearing two expansion and two relocated for 32 teams 16 in each conference. Don't think they are adding 4 teams

haven't seen the numbers the last couple of years but based on a few years ago, you would think they'd relocate with all of those teams losing money every year and a rising cap floor before expanding

not sure so correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think relocation brings a lot of money from the newcomer, whereas the expansion fees are a huge shitload of money hitting the league (and shared directly within owners, part of them being those losing money.. )

? as far as i know lots of that money goes straight to the owners already part of the league..

Teams get 26 picks each and must include at least 3 goaltenders, 8 defensemen and 13 forwards.

A team's unprotected list must include a defenseman that has played in 40 games in the season just prior to the expansion draft or 70 games in the previous two seasons. It must also include a goaltender that played in 10 games in the season prior to the expansion draft or 25 games the prior two seasons (minimum 30 minutes to count as a game).

No team can lose more than one goaltender or one defenseman.

A player who is selected in the expansion draft receives $6,000 from the acquiring club plus moving expenses.
