Kinda like iTunes + facebook combined for games. A revolutionary game distribution method run by Valve, the studio who created games like half life / portal / left 4 dead / Dota 2 / CS.

So... is 'steam' where one would try "The Long Dark"? I've heard it mentioned as totally awesome - and I'm just curious about how this all works?

Need a kick ass PC? Or would a new MacBookPro tackle the duties?

I feel like I'm too far behind the times and would never catch up...

depends on the game (both for sys requirements and platform availability). lots of titles available for Mac and Linux.
