Here's my reasoning with the prospects ... there are no promises. I'm was/getting back into the mode of proven players (for the most part) over prospects/picks, which this league treats like gold. I agree with Kyle quite a bit when it comes to this ...

I really didn't want to move Koivu, especially being comparable stat-wise to Toews. I fell, however, that Toews is more consistent and his ceiling is higher. I seemingly always have to give way more than I get, but that's the way it is when you really want someone.

I think the following condition needs to be placed on Scott:

You are no longer allowed to have player based signatures because you trade franchise players weekly

Oh, and this is my prediction that Heatley will be moved in the very near future Hes a one trick pony!

I gotta say, I'm very surprised Scott would move Toews considering how much he wanted him in the first place. I understand he had cap issues and he's done a lot of shuffling to his team this summer but I didn't imagine he'd be the guy he'd move and to get a player making more money in the process. He's done a lot of work moving contracts to keep him at or near the top of the league.

Koivu does offer a lot of the same things, if not does them better than Toews...but I think based on supporting cast, you have to love Toews upside. Toews is 5 years younger and has a lesser cap hit but will probably make a much bigger salary when this next deal is up. Both guys are #1 centers that are defensive-minded as well as very strong in the faceoff circles and are more of a facilitator...a pass-first player but can still score a fair share of goals.

I think what he and several of the other top GMs here makes sure that they have all their bases covered with a deal and ultimately he'll somehow win this deal in the end when right now, it doesn't look as good on the surface.

Fyi guys, Koivu is only making 3.25 this season. His new contract kicks in next year.

I think he traded it to Montreal and Chuck either selected Malcolm subban or Cody ceci. Not sure which Montreal pick belonged to Chuck and which one to tony.

Still even if it's ceci.. Tony wins IMO and it's not as "rape" as it was first thought...

I dunno who this scott guy was but I went through the trade archives from 2010/2011/2012 and he was involved in like 1/3 of all deals. He was a crazy trader. Maybe get this guy for las vegas if he is interested in rejoining?
