Well in my opinion those who are willing to do the level of research required to detect older, undrafted, unsigned, potential nhl talent. Shouldn't be restricted in doing so. Seeing how incredibly rare it is for players who follow that timeline to crack an NHL roster, it seems like a non issue to me

Those guys can still do that. It punishes those guys by not punishing other people for not doing the research and getting do overs again and again cuz they can discard their shitty contracts. The guys who do proper research likely won't have nearly as many of those contracts. I don't like peoplr to pay their debts. Contrived, I know, but it makes sense. But again, it's me vs the world and I'd rather just be a pion, so I'll drop it.
