I know Babs was trying to rally the troops with what he said. He's a guy that wants to motivate any time he speaks.

It's a fuckin press conference in front of one of the biggest and most intimidating crowd in ice hockey nation. As the newest coach getting a badass contract of nearly 7 mil per year why the fuck wouldn't he say something like this lol

I'm gonna flat out say I watched the whole 30 min bit of the conference last night and the best part of it was buffalo reporters ACTUALLY travelling up here just to confront babcock on why he ended up ditching them AHAHAHAH

They are as much Canada's team as The New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys are America's teams. Whatever that means.

I love the Buffalo outrage only to have Murray come out and say there were no terms agreed upon so all that anger was for nothing. I heard most of the presser on the radio last night...the Buffalo media was adorable to listen to them bait Babs into outing himself as a scum bag.

Babs is a smooth talker and since there's no definitive answer to how the Leafs are going to rebuild...he kept repeating "the process" and "patience" and "challenge". He's laying it out there that he is going to take it in the face initially but if they overachieve, it looks better for him. Eventually, this will work out. For him, he's getting paid handsomely to be the caretaker of the rebuild and to eventually guide that group to a title.

MTL can't lay claim to being Canada's team since a large portion of Quebec doesn't want to be part of Canada. No team is Canada's team, but the Leafs get the most national media coverage and like the Yankees and Cowboys they can say they are a nation's team and get away with it even if the majority of fans disagree.

America's team is whoever is winning at the time... the American way!

The Leafs must be Canada's team. To suck so bad for so long and still sell out says something.
