Bunch of pussies we have here.

Like I said, all players have to do is skate around with their heads down in today's game and they can't be touched. Why not just take contact out of the game?

The game I loved is turning into soccer on ice more and more every year

Did you read the part where I said this wasn't necessarily about Torres?

Kind of hard not to have some sort of contact with the head when a guys head is down and he's moving forward....

i agree --- my shoulder pads make me feel like i could fight in a war and not die from heavy gun fire. I'm a big guy and when i throw a hit it often lands close to a guys head, i wish everyone had to wear the shoulder pads my father has been wearing for 30 years. They still offer tons of protection and are soft like a warm blanket.

Kyuss wanted hockey to be a fancy dangle-fest full of only 'skilled' Europeans making up top 9 lines of each nhl team for a long time now

Also the elbow pads Steve. I remember growing up I had foam elbow pads. Now they wear these elbow pads with hard plastic that can crack the ice...its retarded

it's true, my elbow pads are pretty heavy duty, and pretty hard plastic.

So do Thom and Mike.

I can't comment on Mike as I don't really know him well but I know Thom in real life and he's soft as fuck ;) so this doesn't surprise me coming from him. If Thom was in control he'd eliminate all forms of contact

1. Never said that about eliminating all contact. However, a traumatic brain injury is attained not JUST from hits to the head... it's the brain rattling around in the skull. However, eliminating (trying to) hits to the head goes a long way and I would argue doesn't dimiinish the sports attractiveness to all parties. If you want to see players run through boards with dangerous hits, go watch cock fighting for your blood sport. Hits are great, it's an inherent element of prohockey. What's the point in a player who CAN only hit players, can't play with the puck (hello colton orr, etc). Those players are (my opinion, and the vast majority of managers now) more harm than good to a Good hockey team. If you want dancing bears in hockey, that's nice for you. I'm sure there are beer leagues for that. Didn't a guy die a couple years ago from that crap?
2. Buddy, why are you making this personal? Have a debate without pot shots, I'll refrain from them too. It leads to a more constructive discussion. I'm not going to respond to anything you say with a personal attack or to refute your insults.
3. This is the lasts I'll respond to a post from you on this topic, it won't be a positive exchange otherwise.

You're the one who wants to take it as personal when I'm trying to just bust your chops.

You can't take a bit of friendly ribbing eh? Notice how I put a wink there to try and make it obvious that I'm teasing you?

Jesus christ

Also why do you keep bringing up hits in the boards??? I'm talking open ice hits where guys have their heads down, there is always going to be some contact to the head with those hits....

I've also said nothing about eliminating plugs like Colton Orr from the game. they are useless, I agree.

At this stage of his career and for what he's done...the league is probably done dealing with his "act". The average player isn't getting that ban for the same hit.

Yea he's hitting the guy in a vulnerable position. But theres gotta be some responsibility to be aware of your surroundings. Not a dirty play in my opinion.

I dunno man, this guy is in an elite group of guys who always seem to find a player not aware of their surroundings....LOL.. This is pre-season hockey and he shows that he has no respect .

He's looking for it, he's not looking for a hockey hit or even a hard hit. He's looking for a guy who doesn't seem him, and effecting not just that play or game, but another players career and health. It's total BS and I wish they gave him the season so the sharks weren't on the hook for any of his contract.
