My problem is I trade away all my early picks to compete at least a little. This leaves a bunch of late Picks who either fizzle out or take 5+ God damn years to play their first NHL game.

What's the point of competing just to be a playoff team? And yeah that's generally the risk you run when waiting on prospects drafted outside the 1st rd.
