I offered on Bernier so you could have shed an overpaid backup and keep Ryan.

I paid the (Sid &) wing goalies to get Bernier (+kadri/rnh), from you, I don't like the cycle and do think Bernier is in a pretty good spot in ANA right now. Dislike his salary as my backup, but it's not like the leafs have identified who their backup is yet either.

Enroth is who is rumoured. I'd probably take RNH + Kadri over what I got in return for Crosby.

Agree to disagree on Bernier, I don't think he is a very good goalie and that's why the Leafs traded him for nothing.

I think you guys are blowing this out of proportion. That WPG pick will be top 10 for sure and potentially top 5 depending on the lottery. Luke has great centres but no wingers and a meh defense with not a ton of depth. Also if Dal makes a move for bishop or fleury that puts him in a major pinch. Couple of injuries and bad bounces and its a top lottery pick IMO.

Would not be surprised in the least if CAR finishes about WPG in the standings. Especially since our division isn't great.

As nick said, I made both picks available to him and I don't think he made the wrong choice. With Kimmer, your banking on similar to last year where he had a borderline playoff team at the beginning of the season and turned it into a bottom 5. But based on recent trades that very likely could not be the case.

I'd be pretty shocked if CAR finishes ahead of WPG.

ANA ARZ CAR DET EDM FLA NYR

I have Luke ahead of those teams so it is likely top 10. With how hard it is to shed cap I agree the trade isn't that bad, but still a cheap price for Mike to pay.

Also NJD, SJS, DAL and CBJ to round out bottom 11. But good luck predicting the order.

I think WPG is in that tier with the teams you mentioned. DAL is probably lower but still could use assets to improve if he wants.

Yep lots of time for things to change. Legit could be a top 5 pick. For cap flexibility plus a depth centremen. Seems pretty reasonable if you ask me.

WPG will be fighting STL for the 8th spot, IMO

I heard you could have had sodenberg. That seems like a far better option.

with me adding (a 2nd) I could have had Soderberg, and still needed to shed 2.2M

I feel that... losing Backes was not fun. Prob have to move another depending on Barrie's haul.

I wonder if Backes plays 3C or RW with Bergeron + Marchand
