*If the Carolina pick wins the draft lottery (1st overall selection), then the pick will not have fallen in the standings, and Mike will not receive any of the compensation. Paul will simply forfeit the 1st rounder by dropping it.

I still hate that compensation pick, the team is getting a big bonus for another team not making GP.

The pick was still moved and I agree with that and it should be since it was a points adjustment since more GP would lead to more wins and Billy's team was only that bad because of the lack of GP. I am saying I don't think Billy gave you another 1st.

I'd like for us to have a set in stone degrees of punishment for our new GP rules starting next season. I've never liked how we seem to make up the punishments as we go. The rules are in writing and I think the punishments should be there as well.

It's always been tricky to punish a team that doesn't own their 1st and what do you do with the team that owns the pick. We've got to give out a similar punishment as the recent past to anyone that misses this year since we're under the old rules.

Does no one remember us going over all this for like a month at the end of last season and making the new punishments and changing the way we slide a team back in the standings?

We've had the adjusted standings concept for a while...I like that idea. If we honor the rules that were outlined before, that's the way we should go with this.

And then with the new rule next year and with several believing the 850 minimum is easier to reach...the punishment should be harsher for the offending team.
