oh and good trade boys.

Doesn't do enough when he doesn't have the puck and I've never been a fan of him. I agree Semin has insane talent and skill, but not enough of the rest of the stuff you need to be a player. I also see him having his career drastically shortened by injuries.SuperMario wroteCOLONdid you really go to school with elliott?Snipeshow wroteCOLONI went to school with Elliott. I've talked him since then. He said Semin's shot is the hardest to stop in the NHL.
That is all.
on a side note, neel and i have had arguments about this a LOT:
I personally think, when healthy semin is a top 5 winger in the world.
When he feels like playing, Semin is the most dangerous player in the world, I truly believe that.SuperMario wroteCOLONdid you really go to school with elliott?Snipeshow wroteCOLONI went to school with Elliott. I've talked him since then. He said Semin's shot is the hardest to stop in the NHL.

He is actually very skilled without the puck, great stick lifter, elite speed, and puck anticipation. But again, his work ethic/will to play what ever you want to call it is severely lacking from game to game.inferno31 wroteCOLONDoesn't do enough when he doesn't have the puck and I've never been a fan of him. key there is "when" he isnt consistant enough to be considered top 5. if he ever decided to compete night in night out....watch outMSP4LYFE wroteCOLONWhen he feels like playing, Semin is the most dangerous player in the world, I truly believe that.SuperMario wroteCOLONdid you really go to school with elliott?Snipeshow wroteCOLONI went to school with Elliott. Yeah, and he's very good friends with a buddy of mine.SuperMario wroteCOLONdid you really go to school with elliott?Snipeshow wroteCOLONI went to school with Elliott. I've talked him since then. He said Semin's shot is the hardest to stop in the NHL.

Only when the new guy trades 3rd/4th liners for prospects.Nighthock wroteCOLONIs every trade HUGE now?
With his level of talent he can be very good without the puck.. When he wants to be.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONHe is actually very skilled without the puck, great stick lifter, elite speed, and puck anticipation. Never said he was top 5. Merely that when he's on he is (IMO) the most dangerous player (not just winger) in the world.bryshook wroteCOLONkey there is "when" he isnt consistant enough to be considered top 5. if he ever decided to compete night in night out....watch out
agreed completely.inferno31 wroteCOLONWith his level of talent he can be very good without the puck.. When he wants to be.
The issue is he only wants to be when he has a point to prove. I also think the way he plays hes going to get very badly injured one of these days. It'll be a pronger/Phaneuf catching him with a borderline hit, and Semin doesn't seem like a player who'd rehab well (he'd always always play with a bit of fear after something like that).
Semin also seems to disappear when the going gets tough. Making him a great 2nd line player and top 6 winger, but not someone you want to rely on offense from consistently to win.

24 pts in 28 playoff games (he was over a point per game before this year and Jaroslav "God" Halak stepped in his way).inferno31 wroteCOLONWith his level of talent he can be very good without the puck.. Fair enough.inferno31 wroteCOLONNumbers don't always tell the story. His play on the ice when it counts, or when hes been simply disinterested makes him a second line player. Skill wise and stats wise very much a first line player, but if you want to win you can't consistently rely on him for points, especially if facing tough competition. Thats why I said what I did. I still stick to my prediction injuries will cut him short.
He's a first line player Neel...I don't care how inconsistent he is, there are maybe 4/5 teams that would have him on a second line.inferno31 wroteCOLONNumbers don't always tell the story. My point is hes a second line player on a WINNING team.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONHe's a first line player Neel...I don't care how inconsistent he is, there are maybe 4/5 teams that would have him on a second line.inferno31 wroteCOLONNumbers don't always tell the story.
