Re: GDT Week 1
So much for thinking Smith would face less shots in Calgary. Poor guy will probably have a GAA around 3 but have a high save percentage. Safe to say...the Oilers are going to wreck a lot of teams this year offensively.

hey not my fault Erik Karlsson & Horny are out injured!thom54 wroteCOLONYou posting your AHL lineup like thatkyuss wroteCOLONwhat!thom54 wroteCOLON fuck that

Re: GDT Week 1
Well, he's got one more year until McJesus's AAV balloons and he'll have to shuffle around his roster. I'm glad ELC are only 3 years. The lack of bridge deals force you make some more drastic roster changes after your young stars get out of their first contracts.
I would've loved to keep Matthews but I would've had a garbage team around him. When was the last team to actually keep the #1 overall pick?

If you guys don't like stacked teams maybe stop trading your top picks and players to them?
Re: GDT Week 1
Yet i was never the one to trade mike Matthews and mcdavid
Re: GDT Week 1
Like scott said, mike will need to do a lot of shuffling once mcdavids and matthews contracts kicks in.

Pretty sure the one or two trades i ever made with Mike were in my favor...lol. Seabrook has been a mainstay for years. Pricey contract now though.Sensfanjosh wroteCOLONIf you guys don't like stacked teams maybe stop trading your top picks and players to them?
Edit. Nevermind, he has owned me on a few...lol

Re: GDT Week 1
If I waited a year before trading Matthews...could I have gotten more than what I got originally? I'd like to think so. Trading him before he hits the ice is a risk. Mike still could've acquired him after the first year if he really wanted him.
You can complain about Mike acquiring him...he's got the resources to go after these types of players. Resource-rich teams are going to be the ones who can aggressively pursue the hot young players in the league. Mike has McDavid and Matthews. Mik has Laine and several other quality young players. Steve has an excellent young roster and he acquired Hischier.
When you get the #1 pick in this league...it's usually because your team is not very good. This isn't real hockey where if I keep Auston Matthews and all my players magically get better. His stats are his stats alone. He's not so great that he'll elevate my team singlehandedly. I think trading one player for multiple pieces to strengthen your team is a justified move. The best teams in our league are the best teams because they have multiple star players.
