Military is mostly sitting at home myself included, but waiting on orders that could change things pretty quickly.

It's a been an interesting couple of days here. We got the stay-at-home order from the governor yesterday morning. In fact, I got the advance notice about during my commute. I worked from the office most of the day and got home to watch our son while she ran an errand. Her and I are working at home today while taking care of our son. Hasn't been all that bad of a day production-wise. I had to read e-mails from bed while getting my son down for a nap. Definitely need to be creative to find ways to get stuff done.

Starting to hit closer to home. Our first confirmed case in our county today and a lot of the area counties have at least one now. The tri-county area around Detroit is still worst off by far.

The other spooky thing is the building my wife works at, an e-mail went out to all State employees that someone in the building tested positive. No idea who or what floor they work on. Another reason to feel more edgy.

At my place, they're limiting personnel on a given day and they're even closing on Fridays. We get through the first week of this, it's a relief. Get through the second week, the light is at the end of the tunnel but is it really?

Scott you’re only at the beginning. No idea what trump is saying about getting people back to work for Easter. It’s nutty. Life is gonna be shit down for 2 months... and that’s only if people take it seriously which I have yet to see on a lot of American media

Yup those US numbers are pretty crazy. This isn't going to be pretty.

On the plus side the economy might not tank lol. Im a capitalist but this whole businesses and corporations need more help than people is pretty funny.

I'm in the process of getting a HELOC to free up 200K-ish to maybe get into the market. Markets have been rallying, but I'm hoping it drops a lot more giving a great buying opportunity.

All in right now. Could be one of the best overall buying opportunities for a long long time. Don't get too greedy and miss out waiting for something even better. In oil they've got the double whammy of covid 19 + a price war between the Saudis and Russia. And some things being considered essential services now that weren't previously.

Have to wait for my HELOC to be approved, but I agree for the most part. I think we see another dip once the US realizes open for business come Easter is a pipe dream. Still a great time to buy and I wasn't missing out so that's why I'm leveraging in. I can get < 3% interest so should be easy to beat that in the markets.

It’s definitely gonna dip again ... calling a true recession. But that’s just me from my health care point of view. International travel will not reopen until at least July... and then there is gonna be a second wave of this stuff

Rushing a return to normalcy is stupid and a careless message of hope to sell your people...doesn't matter which country we're talking about.

It makes all of the gripes of people here post-9/11 seem silly now. Would you rather have to go through TSA before a flight and take off your shoes or would rather be under house-arrest for 3 weeks and potentially lose your job? This is a much greater sacrifice and inconvenience so if the move is rush back to normalcy...how many people really want to do this all over again?

While I agree, I think the 3 weeks of house arrest may end up being a bit optimistic. Hell, 3 months is probably more realistic.

It's already been 2 weeks of stay at home for me. I'm expecting another month at least. It's gonna be rough. Great test for your family dynamics though.

This all happened at the worst possible time for me, I flew to the US for my brothers wedding and thought I'd catch a few games while I was there, the morning I arrive they announce the season is suspended, and then things start to slowly shut down. Went from LA to Vegas and over the course of 2-3 days the place just cleared out, empty casino floors, couldn't eat in restaurants anymore etc...
My brother ended up having his wedding in his living room in LA before the shelter in place stuff happened and we managed to get a flight home right after that before they started cancelling flights.
Now I'm stuck at home because all returning passengers to Australia have to self quarantine for 14 days, thankfully we were able to get some groceries delivered and we're doing fine but I was still supposed to be halfway through my holiday at this point :P

The figure getting thrown around in Australia media and from politicians is 6 months. And its what many are preparing for.

Yeah I think we'll have restrictions for at least that long

Wife just gave birth to our son today. Terrifying going INTO a hospital in these conditions. COVID outbreak amongst staff on the 4th floor and were on the 6th. Limits on visitors, I'm locked in with my wife. I guess fathers just started getting fed by the hospital today even though they've been locked in for days. Not a good time to be giving birth at all.

But most importantly Félix Anthony Séguin - 8lbs 15oz born today at 1547 hours! Mom and baby doing well.
