edit: Didn't mean to leave out Kareem -> his forward core is solid, and his blueline straight up beasting.
kareem's got some pretty significant issues to address before the season starts i think.

54 mill locked up in 14 players with no starting goalie.

the players he has are upper echelon no doubt, but i'd be really impressed if he is able to maintain that core while filling the holes on forward and filling the #1 goalie spot while being on thin ice cap wise.

It's imo: Bry, Nick, Kyle, Shep (and Scott if he decides to contend). Then Kareem, Steve, Mike. I've made my peace with the fact that I have a long way to go.

Shiv, you really don't have far to go. You're adding quality depth/pieces to flip for h2hers. You're in good shape and taking a page out of my book (I think).

As for me, definitely not contending this year.

lol feel free to compliment yourself...and no that is not what I am doing. we'll see

EDIT - I will say this, my position on the draft has changed a lot. I am actually looking forward to making those 6th and 7th picks. You guys did not believe me before but this trade was mainly made so I could secure both Strome and Murphy for myself. imo they are STEALS at 6 and 7.

The fact anybody thinks I am in contention is embarrassing. My team is garbage and I'll be lucky to come top 2 in my division, let alone win it all.

Chicago and Nashville are both better than me, and it's not even close.

There is 0% chance Strome is available at 6.

lol if one of Landeskog/RNH/Couturier/Larsson/Huberdeau are available, I'll be ecstatic as well.

Larsson and probably Couturier will be going past me at 4.

imo Couturier is the only one who should drop to 6. If Larsson falls to 6 I'll go insane lol.

My prediction for BBKL. NHL will be different, as Larsson goes 3rd.

1. RNH
2. Landeskog
3. Huberdeau
4. Strome
5. Larsson

that order would hurt me the most as imo that is how the order SHOULD be <--- you could swap Larsson and Strome but yeah other than that hard to argue. I'd settle for Couturier if it came to it. Really hoping I get Strome/Larsson though.

Strome is 4th because I have 4th pick and I'm not picking a dman. It'll be Strome or Courturier to me at #4.

Shiv, if you're disappointed with Couturier at 6 or 7 you're insane. Big center who is good at both ends of the ice and imo only dropped off a bit this season because of conditioning due to mono. The kid's probably the most complete player in the draft imo....

disappointed is the wrong word. i'd rather have one of the other 5 lol. but i guess that is greedy for me to expect at 6. i'd be completely fine with couturier.

IMO, Couturier is as good or better then anyone in this draft.

I think it is hard to say that any of the other 5 should go after him. that's not a knock on him. it's just a credit to the other 5. in the future Couturier could prove that ranking wrong. but based on the information now, he should not go earlier than 6.

What information? Couturier had a beast year while recovering from mono and not being as strong as he could've been. I'd bet come draft day he goes top 5 in the NHL. His size, 2 way ability, and his NHL readiness will be too much to pass up.
