i agree with that sentiment in general, but i dont see that as an option for tony's team or why he'd even want to make changes.

the islanders could beat any team in this league on any given week. that's much more than can be said about the real bottom feeders.

I agree, the way Tony's team has been built, those periphs + goaltending can definitely beat any team. It'll be a close matchup, but Tony isn't expecting to go out and crush some of the top teams.

Too many managers are content to be able to compete with, and perhaps even beat any given opponent on any given week. If you aren't the favorite to beat every team on any given week you should be striving to improve.

I also don't think Tony is good enough to beat the top teams, he couldn't defeat my depleted team last week, and I'm not even the top team. I think Tony can beat any team in 4-5 cats every week, perhaps 7-8 with great goaltending, but it takes 9 to win, and the Islanders are not a solid bet to take 9 against any top team as of today. That said, I like the philosophy behind the Islanders team, and can appreciate the risk it took to build such a team.

Even if you think these trades devalue picks, look at the draft. Every god damn year it's a shitshow.

Honestly, I think if this trade demonstrates anything, it is that there is no set market. Obviously if that were the case then this trade would have never happened. Value is a product of circumstance, need and timing, not prior deals.

Yes he can. I gave Tony and BUFChris props in the Pre-Season Rankings consistently because of this. But the issue is that teams like NYI, BUF are destined to fall short. They will put up a solid fight, maybe even win a round, but they will not go all the way <--- which is the goal.

Their recognition of the value in the defensive stats, and players that specialize in them, has and will continue to increase their value, which was needed IMO.
