You guys shouldnt act like I am not giving you credit but I am in a ridiculous division with really smart GM's and then add to it the conference I am in and with what I have right now I am not going any higher.

We've both dominated our fair share of fantasy leagues, you more so I'm sure. It's no coincidence...

It is more of a general statement than a criticism of you in particular.

No fighting from me Chris. I think this is a great step in the right direction. Now when you sell Doughty, get more than what you gave up here. Then repeat. And that team will be a better team in no time.

Amen.

i went from a bottom 10 team last year to my team now in the "modern" bbkl era. it's certainly not impossible, the mid-tier teams these days simply aren't pro-active enough.

Don't even worrrrrry about what all these people think. It's always the same handful that decide to criticize.

Shiv's the best of course. Don't get me wrong Shiv, I like you and all, but you go around providing all this advice to people on how they should build a team and you can't even keep a roster together for more then 2 weeks without completely dismantling it.

this isn't the real NHL. players don't mesh and create chemistry as the seasons go on for your BBKL team.

having an average team and being hell bent on keeping them together is not going to do anything but maintain your averageness.

all the top teams in the league (save bos) are active traders. trading guys when their value peaks, buying certain players at a low, moving prospects during peak times (WJC, the draft, etc...).

some teams just do not take advantage of that sort of thing and are content to just sit tight, which is fine. but don't expect to be anything more than average if you're not willing to change your average team.

you're gonna have a huge off-season and come back way stronger for sure.

CBJ went from a middle of the pack team to a top team in the west in 1 off season - why? his trade activity peaked considerably.

Don't worry. You will eventually realize that this "wait-and-see" approach of yours does not work in BBKL. You are way behind the curve.

Let's assume Tarasenko, Schiefele, Bernier, Burmistrov all BREAK OUT at the same time. Do you really think teams like TBL, WSH, TOR, NJD, PIT, BOS, LAK, STL, CHI etc. will let you just own everyone and let it happen? No they will continue to make moves and outplay you over and over and OVER again.

Your method is flawed. A handful of GMs in this league could turn every team around in this league in one Off Season or less. Everything else is bitching/excuses.

It's true, you always have to be improving to win in this league, even if you are first you need to continue improving because competition isn't static, everytime you improve others around you will try to 1-up you. The Boston Bruins model is a poor one to follow for two reasons 1) You cannot replicate the Boston goalie tandem and 2) as good as Boston is they fail to make the moves necessary to push themselves over the top year after year after year.

Ill make moves when i need to. Right now id rather let my young guys develop on my team. No need to trade them right now when their value isnt anywhere near what it has the potential to be.
