From what I've read he's a big supporter of the Tea Party movement. That being said I'm impressed he had the balls to do this. Its essentially lending support to a guy you dont support....every american Cup win, World Series, Superbowl win...nothing but photo ops for the sitting president to look for the average joe.

He has definitely gained fans with this statement, but he has also lost a lot. The Garden crowd for the most part is a pretty simple fanbase. I can actually see some boos coming down on him. As a fan of the B's, this really bothers me that he had to introduce a political stance into sport. Some can agree or disagree on the reasoning and forum for doing such a thing but, as a fan this can only lead to bad things down the road. I can only hope that the team knew this was going to happen and this really is old news in the locker room.

I'm on the fence about this. On one hand, I admire Thomas in standing up for something he doesn't believe in or respect..but on the contrary, this was a team event. The Boston Bruins were getting honoured as a team. So in a sense, Thomas was bailing out on his team. It's totally fine that he doesn't like whats going on in the white house and Obama, but he himself said in his statement that there were no political reasons behind him choosing not to show up. We all know this was based on political beliefs but I think it would've been best if he had put those beliefs aside and gone for the team. I think Darren Dreger has also recently reported that some of his teammates are not happy with Thomas bailing out on his team..

Anyways, fuck the Bruins. I hope this fucks them up and catalyzes their downward spiral into mediocrity..

Pretty bold statement and accusation based on the name of his children.

Also, The Bruins held Thomas out of a team Childrens charity event in Washington because the media storm would have taken away from the event. Awesome...

It's the media/twitter than made a big deal of it. Thomas kept it quiet until the media began flippin' their lid over the reasons why. Granted, Thomas' statement didn't exactly endear anyone to his cause, but let's not forget about Ramirez passing on the White House visit back in 2007.

I think its really not as big a deal as it is being made into and I actually think the team feels the same way. They knew this was going to happen. I didn't see this coming from Thomas though. Is there a normal fucking goalie anywhere? Really. Three goalies that i think of right away Ryan Miller the fucking crybaby, Bryzgalov and his humongus beeg Universe, and now Thomas the fucking Government is corrupt, i hate it all come follow me to the Tea Party stance. I know that goalies for the most part are known to be very unique but man is it ever obvious the deeper you get into to seeing there personal lives.
