That's why you'd only make it for one season therefore no new GMs would be screwed by previous GMs unlike picks which we can't get back

NHL teams also can only retain on three players so tracking shouldn't be a real issue especially if you can put it on fantrax
I also like the one season thing one year salary retention would make our trade deadlines real interesting

retained salaries would be a nightmare (albeit not to the same extent if only for the ongoing season)

Can we create place holders on fan trax?

I was going to bring it up this spring but I keep talking myself out of it. It would be tricky to keep track. Not impossible...but tricky.

many GMs don't even meet current minimum requirements, anyone mentioning retained salaries should think about it..

Issue with retaining salary until the end of the season for floor cap teams is that once that salary comes off the books during the summer, they will need to go out and acquire actual players to get back to the cap floor. So they very well may not make any profit at all. Since we don't have free agency.

depends. One would think they are trying to unload the rest of their war chest for whatever and the young guns get to play but who knows with trade day

maybe rather than catering to the lowest common denominator that doesn't want to put in the minimal amount of effort required, we kick those scrubs out of the league.

of course we won't do that because friends feelings will get hurt.
