Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
You can view last year's on YouTube. Haven't looked to see if other years are up too. There's better and more profitable things out there than the NHL if they really want to go the shady route. It's really not worth it for them. I guess there's a conspiracy theory for everything these days though.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
I'm talking the Crosby draft in particular. Too much shadiness for my liking.
I'm not saying they do it every year. Lots of questions surrounding that Crosby draft though. With allll the teams that had the same odds as Pitt, he just happens to land in the one spot where a franchise essentially needed saving or it would fold? Ok then

I'm with you. 100% convinced that year in particular was fixed. "Waah, bankruptcy, we're going to have to move" - oh, there's a generational player in the draft? Here you go Mario, you whiny little bitch.KapG wroteCOLONI'm talking the Crosby draft in particular. Too much shadiness for my liking.

Fuck Pittsburgh.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
but the funniest thing is basically no one was bringing up Pittsburgh in their conspiracy theories back then, before the lottery.Arian The Insider wroteCOLONYou can view last year's on YouTube. NOW it's all.. "it was clear it was going to be Pittsburgh !" BAHAHAH as clear as my ass hole

No one was bringing up the Penguins or any other team, because no one thought the brass would rig it.kyuss wroteCOLONbut the funniest thing is basically no one was bringing up Pittsburgh in their conspiracy theories back then, before the lottery.Arian The Insider wroteCOLONYou can view last year's on YouTube. I guess it was just blind luck that the Penguins happened to win that lottery and save their franchise at the same time, right?
Get the fuck outta here!

While you guys adjust your tinfoil hats, big news out of the NHL today:
Per Elite Prospects, D Corey Potter, who played 1 game last year for Nashville as well as splitting time between Milwaukee and Springfield of the AHL after being traded at the deadline from Arizona, has signed with Kolner Haie of the DE

earth shattering news!
Thanks Lee!
Thanks Lee!
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Same thing with the NBA. Knicks magically getting Ewing. Cavs landing Lebron. And when he left being gifted lottery wins for a few years to ultimately get him back there. It's straight out of a script.
I don't think it happens every year but it's too convenient across the sports to see bad situations developing and that team winning the lottery when they need to.
Had the Coyotes won the lottery this year the same thing could have been said again.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
not to mention each team has a representative attend the lottery lol. it's not 100% impossible that it was rigged but it's very highly unlikely. Too many obstacles in place and then you would have to hope everybody involved keeps their mouth shut.kyuss wroteCOLONbut the funniest thing is basically no one was bringing up Pittsburgh in their conspiracy theories back then, before the lottery.Arian The Insider wroteCOLONYou can view last year's on YouTube. Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Although I enjoy jokingly complaining about it the sheer # of people who would need to be involved in the cheat is far too great. Sometimes things line up nicely for franchises and it makes a fairy tale story; that doesn't mean it was rigged.
Lindros to Anywhere but Quebec
Matthews to struggling ARZ
McDavid to anywhere but edmonton
Also remember all 30 owners would be lighting their hair on fire if those wasn't done with a professional level of oversight.
If it was just bettman writing down a list I think you'd have more support for the fear of wifi, ahem I mean rigged NHL lotto's - but we're talking multi-million dollar swings in big business. Better believe KPMG or EY has their audit team there ensuring and reporting due process.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Yeah, I never bought the Crosby draft conspiracy. It was pretty much an open lottery that year out of the lockout. Of all the teams that needed a franchise player, I don't think Pittsburgh was the only one. It definitely helped them...can't deny that.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
that's exactly the opposite of what happened during the month leading up to that lottery.KapG wroteCOLONNo one was bringing up the Penguins or any other team, because no one thought the brass would rig it.kyuss wroteCOLONbut the funniest thing is basically no one was bringing up Pittsburgh in their conspiracy theories back then, before the lottery.Arian The Insider wroteCOLONYou can view last year's on YouTube. And going by memory Rangers were the most speculated destination. Pittsburgh was one of the few that I don't remember to have seen as a probable destination for the rigged lottery.
Sorry to spoil your made-up truth

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
This is an interesting line of thinking. Mik provided evidence that counters your claim, but it only entrenches your belief in the conspiracy. It's like bringing up fossils to a creationist ("God put those there to test our faith").KapG wroteCOLONYup, NHL did the ol' head fake.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
To play devils advocate, what Mik posted wasn't exactly evidence.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
I remember thinking pre-lottery they'd give it to Pittsburgh and laughing when they got him. Don't know or care if it was rigged, but was amusing.
