Yes, I want him to be the starter there. And it is possible reimer signs with arz. But I don't see the numbers proving reimer is better. His 2 seasons prior to last year he put up .907 and .911 save percentages.
Smith had a .904 sv percentage before his injury last season. After his injury he played phenomenal for 10 games boosting his save percentage. But if you look at years previous he put up a .904, .915, .910 sv percentage.
Domingue threatened to go to Europe last season because he wanted playing time and they gave it to him.
I'd more understand if Arizona went out and got MAF/stl goalie/bishop to solve their issues if they were going to spend money on goaltending long term - Not a plug that could put them in the same position they are in with smith.

Reimer's bad stats were on historically bad defensivley Carlyle teams. You don't like Reimer and that's fine, but he is far from a plug and will sign somewhere and he won't put up .938 like he did with the Sharks, but I'm confident he will still do better than Domingue.
Also if you did some research you would know that Fleury has a lower career sv% then that plug Reimer despite playing on way better teams but sure I guess in your mind spending quality assets on the older inferior goalie with a high cap hit and some injury issues rather than sign a goalie for free would be more understandable.

I don't see Arizona making a play at any goalie right now. Signing Goli gives them a respectable top 4 ( OEL, Goli, Murphy, Stone) And I wouldn't mind Michalek and Dahlbeck as 5 and 6. It's not great but not horrible either.
Won't comment on them as I wouldn't be able to hide my bias

You could be right, the only thing I am sure of is they will overpay someone in free agency. At this point I was more taking offence to Matthew's valuation of Reimer then the chances he signs there, especially when making comments like Fleury or Elliott would solve their issues long term even though those goalies are older and need to be traded for.

Nope. Didn't look at fleurys stats, so no need for the sarcasm. But the other goalies are better options. I believe your maple leaf bias is showing. The team domingue played behind was pretty bad defensively the last few years too. Last year they were 25th last in ga.
The year before they were 28th, the same year reimer put up a .907 save percentage on the 27th in ga "historically" bad leafs.
And you say why would they spend big money on these other goalies, yet you believe they should throw money at reimer to get to the cap floor? That makes no sense. And if you think a team should do it because they can have reimer for free rather than give assets up for him, I suppose you would prefer reimer coming back to the leafs, rather than acquiring anderson?

A lot of Leafs people on Twitter actually did prefer signing Reimer or just keeping Bernier - Sparks and keeping 30 and SJS '17 2nd instead of trading for Andersen on the basis that the Leafs aren't ready to contend yet.
The difference in the hypothetical ARI situation is Andersen's younger and better than Fleury and actually could be a solution to long term issues. I would have preferred signing Reimer for free over trading the picks for Fleury or Elliott and would then draft a goalie. With Andersen I have watched quite a few Ducks games and I believe he could be an above average #1. It's pretty much a consensus from Ducks fans he has been their better goalie, but the difference in cap hits and with the expansion draft looming made keeping Gibson a no brainer.
As for the quotation marks:
"Leafs have not only given up more shots than any team in the NHL this season by a significant margin, they are on their way to having one of the worst seasons in league history when it comes to allowing shots. With still two games remaining in the regular season, the Leafs at their current pace should give up around 2,909 shots on goal this season. Since the league started tracking shots on goal numbers that would be the sixth-worst season in league history. Three of the teams that gave up more played 84-game seasons (the 1993-94 Sharks, Kings and Blues). The other two were the 1995-96 Sabres and the 2001-02 Thrashers (who won just 19 games). That is the company the 2013-14 Maple Leafs kept when it came to preventing shots. Three teams that played in an 84-game season and one of the worst teams in NHL history."
Is that not historically bad?

JVR - Stamkos - Lucic doesn't sound like a bad 1st line.

So still no definition on what a "professional" is. NHL vs AHL and number of games

It's in the CBA, so players that started in the NHL and then back to junior or juniors who played a handful of AHL games after their season ended don't count as a season.

So 9 or less means the season doesn't count?
