I think there is more than 50% at least one of picks 2->5 gets moved

I guess EDM could trade back so they can select a D that would be the smart move, but they don't have a smart GM. Should be interesting with the Leafs having 31 since the fan base has all night to talk about which projected 1st rounder that dropped they hope to get.

Day 1 of the draft (1st round) has become a TV event...on NBCSN down here. Saturday goes by super fast with rounds 2-7...they bang that out in a few hours. We'll pretty much know the draft results by midday Saturday.

It's been longer than that. It's been probably 10 years. I remember driving and listening to the 2009 draft, and I could've sworn I saw the 2008 draft on TV too.

Maybe those had Round 2 the same day, but all started in the evening.

They used to do the entire draft on a Saturday...I'd be able to watch one or two rounds and then it would go off the air down here. NHLN had all day coverage at one point. The 1st round picks are spaced out enough where you can the podium announcement and the jersey and hat presentation with the prospect and the pundits can yap about about it. The picks in the later rounds go so fast, it's not even worth watching it on TV.

Ekblad appears to be getting an 8-year extension from the Panthers...reportedly worth $60 million.

I agree, I've been saying this since the lottery ended.

But I also agree with Shep. I don't see any chance they pass on Matthews.

I'm just saying...

Im of the belief there is no way they pass on him, it's just I've become jaded as a Toronto sports fan I guess. I expect disaster now (even though I probably shouldn't as new management group is doing real well so far)

fixed

There's a chance that anyone in the draft could.

Laine may be a better goal scorer. I think Matthews is by far the more complete player when it's all said and done.
