Congrats you two.

What's your math on this? Vegas had 20 picks, Edmonton had 21. With that many picks...odds are those guys are going to miss a few.

Fun fact...if you can call it that...Vegas and Edmonton accounted for 19% of the picks in our draft. I don't remember seeing two teams each with 20+ picks.

I drafted 33 players during the 2013-14 entry draft. In retrospect it's wasn't necessarily the best idea...

Why wasn't it the best idea? Did you get slogged down with too many contracts?

So far dvorak and possibly montour have gotten nhl jobs?

Notice that despite his many picks he only has 2 picks in the first 2 rounds. (2 late 2nd rounders)

Lemieux, Quennville, and Hickey also look like good picks. Rest looks like a bunch of junk.

To me Brendan Lemiuex looks like a bad pick. He hasn't done well as a pro.

Regardless getting Dvorak and Montour that late is impressive

Because of scoring? His game never translated to being a top 6 forward anyway. He was likely always going to have to make it as an annoying bottom 6 player to play against and chip in some secondary scoring. Just turned 21 a few months ago too.

Ya I traded for holmstrom and Dvorak in one deal I think from Chuck. Wish I held on to Dvorak but holmstrom will be intriguing. Wonder if he can play North American game.

Pretty solid draft for me.

Took Vesalainen at 23, he went at 24
Took Timmins at 34, he went at 32
Comtois fell from 31 to 50 for me though.

The guys with stars were never drafted. A few guys still with upside like Foegele and Amiado who look to be decent.

Fun first draft, didn't think I would enjoy this format with picking in the dark, but it certainly does bring an element of unpredictability that is always good in fantasy sports.

Didn't have a ton of picks, but batting 100% so far:

Cal Foote (22), went at 14
Jaret Anderson-Dolan (35), went at 41
Rudolfs Balcers (122), drafted in 2015
Gabriel Fontaine (153), drafted in 2016
Drake Rymsha (184), went at 138
Maksim Sushko (215), went at 107

Wish I had taken Norris over Dolan though - was waffling between the two, Matt certainly got a steal there

142. Greg Miereles --> Undrafted
173. Alexander Volkov --> 48 to TB (+125)

didn't find the time to post predictions pre-draft, so will add a quick comment about that for each player

#4 - Casey Mittelstadt (8th BUF) -- before Combine was expecting top5, after it him falling to a 8th wasn't a real surprise. Personally I couldn't care less about his Combine results and I was pleased to learn his answer to that https://twitter.com/ChadGraff/status/871782769814364160

#14 - Klim Kostin (31st STL) -- was expecting top20, but Russian + shoulder injury hurt his case obviously. Hilarious trade by the Pens btw. If I'm the owner I fire the GM the following day without caring about the Cups he just won.

#15 - Eli Tolvanen (30th NSH) -- was expecting top20, but I like his landing spot

#30 - Henri Jokiharju (29th CHI) -- went at the lower end of the range I was expecting for him, love his landing spot

#32 - Marcus Davidsson (37th BUF) -- went at the lower end of the range I was expecting for him, on paper Sabres had a lucky early part of the draft

#44 - Dmitri Samorukov (84th EDM) -- didn't understand why he was ranked that low, don't understand why dropped accordingly, love his landing spot

#59 - Gustav Lindstrom (38th DET) -- went exactly where I expected

#70 - Ivan Chekhovich (212h SJ) -- funny to see him drop like that, hopefully the next Ondrej Kase case

#75 - Lucas Elvenes (127th VEG) -- I don't think he would have dropped that far in BBKL and drafted him for potential, made sense for my # of picks and prospects, but I could see reasons for him to drop in NHL draft

#113 - Kirill Slepets (undrafted) -- didn't expect him to go undrafted after being one of the best at U18s, but you never now with Russians I guess

#128 - Daniil Tarasov (86th CLB) -- 3rd round was the highest I was expecting him to go, and actually encouraged by the news about the LBI he is going through

#129 - Calle Sjalin (145th NYR) -- was expecting 4th/5th round

#163 - Jakob Stenqvist (2016 176th DAL) -- last yr draft, had a pretty good season

#172 - Jacob Peterson (132th DAL) -- think he belonged higher in this draft but was a bit of a sleeper imo so not really surprising to see him last till the 5th

#188 - Eetu Luostarinen (42nd CAR) -- was expecting 3rd Round, nice to see him picked up by CAR too

#197 - Jerry Turkulainen (undrafted) -- had little chances to get selected with his size, will need to prove people wrong first for that to happen

#216 - Adam Kubik (undrafted) -- thought his chances of getting drafted were 50-50

Only surprising guy to go undrafted was Slepets, but again, he's Russian, NHL teams seem to feel more comfortable drafting them later on in their draft eligibility, probably once they make more of a commitment to come over. Which I believe is dumb. Especially when it turns into drafting worse prospects.

Hopefully this will turn out to be my best draft yet.
The positions where these guys were selected means zip for that matter.
