It's almost like people forget how good Couts hands and hockey IQ were coming out of junior after years in the NHL playing a strictly defensive role. I don't think I'm underselling Strome at all. He's likely going to be a good player, perhaps even a very good player, but not the franchise center people want him to be. Simply put Marner is a special player and it was clear to me from the beginning. Strome will never be that imo.Nick wroteCOLONCasperX22 wroteCOLONNo shit Strome has an issue with speed. Underselling the guy pretty clearly. He's got playmaking top offensive C written all over him.
You love Couts who is a terrible skater, working on it year by year and it's not even mentioned anymore, and thats with his more limited skill set.
Strome has that RyJo/Spezza style C written all over him IMO. See's the ice amazingly well and totally elite offensive toolbox. I know you make some of these comments in an argument vs Marner, I'm not saying anything on that front other than thank god Marner is awesome.
Maybe. There isnt really anyone standing in his way to become a top line center, but he's got a lot of work to do.Nick wroteCOLONYe, so not seeing any point in the Strome/Marner discussion outside of the draft debate (and I admit I wasn't targeting either as a Leaf fan, I was very pro Provorov/Hanafin).
Couts was a very good QMJHLer, I remember his draft well, but he always projected as a good TWF, strong on the dot, details orientated, and big body. IIRC I was his owner at a few points during his rookie and sophomore season.
Strome is a different offensive beast, and when he's ready for the show it will look different too. Passing lanes, ease of beating goalies, and dominant games when things are really right. Will he be an elite #1C, unlikely. Will he be the Coyotes top offensive player? probably?
Fuck him. I'd be OK with a bomb being dropped in the middle of Pittsburgh. It won't be missed.Loki wroteCOLONHow about that Jake Guentzel kid?

Another mid round pick thriving with another team. You're welcome.
They need to just trade him already. Fluery has always been a starter, so he needs to play. If Murray is your #1 though you need to give humans many games as he can handle. It's a nice problem to have, but it is probably hurting both goaltenders more than it is helping at this point.Handsome&FairMike wroteCOLONInteresting how Pittsburgh is using fleury. I know he had a decent game the other night but was fully expecting Murray to play tonight. Seems like they are trying to show he's still got it. Will be interesting how the goalie situation is gonna shake out this year.
Well if the Stars fwds could bury some of these high quality chances he has set up.The BBKL Insider wroteCOLONWhat im more excited about is the Julius Honka show to start. He was recalled for being awesome.
