He was willing to move both Kadri and Kulemin for Richards, it was the Flyers who rejected the deal.

Not true. They asked for Kulemin and Kadri - Burke said he'd think about it. They offered Kadri and someone else for Carter - Flyers' never returned their answer on the proposal.

Yes and no.
Dreger's tweet was this:
Flyers asked for Kadri and Kulemin from the Leafs for Mike Richards. Toronto said they would consider it, but never heard back from Phi

Burke is full retard not to take that. The flyers got the better deal in the end though. Also, I will search for the link but I heard an interview with burke and it said that the kulemin + kadri offer was actually for carter and he didn't hear about Richards being on the block until after he moved. I remember that dreger tweet and it was the day of the trade before everything came out

Btw kulemin is better that staal for offense without a doubt imo. Staal imo is too defensive minded to cheat the amount needed to be a big point producer. Just my opinion.

29 goal seasons versus one 30?
Seem to be placing too much emphasis on the last season.
Someone propose a bet - if J.Staal is within 5 points (or above) Kulemin (GP close as well, +/- 5) I get a 2nd 2012, if he's down by more then 5 bet acceptor gets a 2nd 2012.

Man up and do a straight points bet, no 5 or under bs.

There is no way Brian Burke offered Kulemin + Kadri (maybe one or the other) for Carter...Plus I've heard every Brian Burke interview since he was hired, and that seems like something I would recall if true.

Kulemin doesn't cheat much either, but his speed allows him to generate the counter attack quickly, and the wing is a far less defensive oriented position in general.

Staal has the ability to be a 30-30 guy if played in a more offensively-oriented role. I'm not worried about him being as productive as Kulemin.
The thing which makes me most uneasy is who does Staal play with? Kulemin, along with Grabovski and MacArthur represents and entire line which we know is effective. They have the potential to be a long-term part of our team's top-six identity, along with Kessel. Adding Staal would make it uncertain. He could even just continue to be used in a shutdown role, as Grabovski and MacArthur have good chemistry themselves, and Armstrong was very productive with Staal in his time.
Lupul - Connolly - Kessel
????-Grabovski-MacArthur
?????? - Staal - Armstrong
Brown - Bozak - ????????
Orr
Also, Kadri and somebody else for Carter? Don't want that loser around here. Glad that didn't go down. Richards would have been sick. We've got our leader on the back-end. With Richards we'd have one at forward.

Did not say he offered it, he was offered it. That is the offer he had to think about not Richards. That is what I was saying.

Either way, it didn't happen. There is no way the Leafs would entertain an offer like that for Carter.

That is market value for an RFA who had a successful rookie campaign, not sure I'd call that a steal.
