The real take away is that year after year, the trade deadline proves to be a soft cap on trades in that there is no "dead time" where teams cannot trade at all, unlike our league, which strives for parity, in which there is a dead time where no teams can trade at all.

I understand, but there is no reason you cannot work on a deal with someone and give a gentleman's agreement to post directly after the playoffs. I don't believe anyone here would break that agreement.

So if I put oduya there 2 days ago intending for him to be sitting for the upcoming week, can I take him off before lock?

NHL is 7 days which is a week for us. Why put a guy on IR 2 days ago before you knew if he could play?

I don't have a problem with it I guess, it's not LTIR so it's not like you would save cap or anything.

Well I know he will be out until next Thursday. I just didn't realize he didn't have any games until Thursday. It's fine if the rule is 7 days. I'll follow that. I'm sure missing 1 or 2 gp won't be the difference maker for me on gp. Thanks for the info, bruyns.

Note that IR does not get LTIR cap exemption. Just a roster spot.

I understand this. Cap isn't. An issue for me. Gp is the issue.
