Dont see anyone panicking about schenn's rather shitty game.

The honest truth is that it's pre-season, and means nothing.
It baffles me that more people don't see this...

The second line will be interesting to watch, as Frattin is in competition for that LW spot.

He was mentioned in competition, but hasn't held a flame to Kadri from what i've seen.

I agree. Frattin hasn't really impressed yet. Hasn't stunk either. It will be interesting to see how he does with NHL-calibre line-mates though.

Kadri wasn't very good in the first game either, it will be up to Frattin to match Kadri's performance from last night. The NHL caliber line-mates should help, but aside from that it was only one game...Way, way, way too premature to remark that Frattin "hasn't held a flame to Kadri." Thus far Luke Schenn hasn't held a flame to Carl Gunnarsson, too short a sample size to draw any meaningful conclusions.

Difference is that Schenn has a roster spot assured. Gunnarsson doessn't. Kadri doesn't. Frattin doesn't. The latter three are the ones who need to do everything they can to make an impression.

I agree, and FWIW I don't think Frattin has much of a shot against Kadri. However to make any meaningful conclusions after one game is silly, IMO. Ergo the comparison to Schenn, who is quite clearly a better defenceman than Gunnarsson, despite one bad pre-season game.

New goal song.

Good on Rosehill for giving Shelly what he deserved, wonder if they'll be a suspension.
Colborne looked better this game, still 1 year away though. Gardener continues to impress though hes knocking on the door, has to be the first call up.

Also I see a lot of gus hate from fans, this is his 2nd nhl game in 8 months so yeah he appears a bit lost and flustered but with good reason. I have faith in his ability to be honest, but even I'm having some doubts creep in that his style of play doesn't suit our team very well.

I agree Neel. I think a young team needs a steady and calm goaltender. A jittery and energetic goaltender like Gustavsson can negatively influence a defense's ability to play a steady game in front of him.

Gardiner was great. I'm trying to figure out where his hockey sense is at, but I'm leaning towards above-average.

VANCOUVER — Three months after suffering a broken vertebrae in the Stanley Cup final, Vancouver Canucks winger Mason Raymond can't say for sure that he will play again.

But he felt lucky to be be able to walk into his meeting with reporters on Thursday and is hopeful that he will meet initial projections and resume his National Hockey League career by mid-season.

“At the end of the day, it could have been worse,” Raymond said. “I'm lucky to be standing here today with arms and legs moving. I'm still having some discomfort with some soft tissue, but it's coming along well and I'm happy with the process.

“Whenever you have something in that [spinal] area, you have a serous risk of having additional problems. So, yeah, I feel lucky.”
