As a Kero owner I was hoping Kruger was gone, don't think he is now.

I think Vegas has done a god awful job with a gift of an opportunity. No other expansion team in history has been given this solid of a chance to come out of the gate an amazing franchise.
They would literally have been better off taking the best player available from every team and then making a deal at the deadline next year. Take Vatanen, Dumba, Mrazek etc. What a joke.
Now we'll have to watch that franchise flounder for 7 years till it gets to the level it could have started at next year.

Vatanen and Dumba would not have been exposed if there was a chance of them being picked.

Most of those teams were handcuffed and you could have taken a very good player from them.

George McPhee should be ashamed of the job he's done IMO. He'll be fired in a couple of years and a new GM will come in to to lead the next phase of Vegas like Doug Maclean

Point was to load up on prospects and picks and we will see more of that tomorrow. I don't like quite a few of the picks/deals but think their overall strategy was the right one just disagree with some valuations. Picking a team to compete for the 8th spot in the West would have been foolish, they need to be bad for a couple seasons and hope some of their picks turn into stars.

maybe what Lee said is correct.. because dumba >>>>>> tuch + haula...
but there is no excuse in not taking mrazek... if they don't need him.. you can easily flip him to someone who needs a goalie for a return MUCH BETTER than nosek? no?

Taking Emelin, Engelland, Brickley, Nosek, Merrill, Lindberg and Bellemare are the bad picks IMO. Don't like the ANA deal and MIN deal is OK but not a big fan, but I think the TBL, NYI, FLA, CBJ, PIT and WPG deals were smart.

Completely agree. I still hate seeing Thorburn selected though...

Oh, I'm not saying don't load up on picks. I'm saying it is poor asset management.
-Could they have gotten more 1sts?
-DId they need to take two awful contracts to get the 1sts they got?
-Could they have flipped certain players (e.g. at the trade deadline next year) instead of taking picks in later rounds?
-Could they have simply picked better players from certain teams?
There are mistakes on so many levels made, it's not even funny.

Players would've been traded if Vegas wasn't cutting deals and I'm sure they knew that. Without seeing the trades that will happen soon, I think they set themselves up well to stock the pool. They can still add more players in free agency.
Some of the player choices can definitely be questioned though

Easy for us to say we could have done better when we don't know what was going on behind the scenes.

Meh, I'll save my disappointment for after the entry draft. See what GMGM can do.

VGK traded up to Dallas spot to pick 3rd overall
GMGM: With the 3rd overall pick in the 2017 NHL entry draft, and the first ever selection by this franchise, the Vegas Golden Knights are proud to select, from the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League, Centre - Michael Rasmussen
