Vegas screwed up big time...Why would any 31 yr old player (not from North America) want to play in the AHL, when he could go home and play where he is comfortable and make as much money. I 100% would of done the same thing. We are way too hard on Russians, it takes a lot of balls to move half way around the world, with his family, and not being able to speak the language. That would be brutal enough, and then to get sent down only after a sip of coffee, would be a huge slap in the face.

Yea it is a shame how mcphee used roster managenent as an excuse to constantly belittle Shipachyov + the fact that "suck it up" attitude does not and should not work/apply to a 31 yr old veteran in hockey (even if not nhl). Hype was bought into(vgks doing), contract of this magnitude was signed (vgks doing), and whole family having to adjust in usa is a bigger than hockey kinda thing, especially when certain things were promised (vgks doing, loosely albeit) for him to be face of the franchise. I mean both parties were unprofessional in their own ways but in the end if shipachyov was "nice about it" and did what he was told, there was no guarantee that they were gonna bring him up soon and in Ships mindset that wasnt something he could easily adhere to. He isnt a fucking 20 yr old prospect who has no say in roster management. Only thing that fucked up on svobodas part was overlooking the fact that ship has waiver exemption status and vgk found it a huge break of a loophole to treat him however they wanted to in the name of "roster management for a expansion franchise needing this"

I knew I wanted him real bad with one of the mid waiver picks... never got a chance at that 3rd waiver pick acquisition. Took Shipachyov and Aston-Reese. Sorta regret the reese pick over Rutta
I have had mild success with the few waiver picks i have made. Wish i had the time to put into understanding and studying prospects more. Big disadvantage in this league. My three waiver selections:
