9th overall for gagner easily gets done in the off-season.

I paid more than that for Gagner.

Griffin Reinhart + Mikael Backlund + Alex Khokhlachev for Gagner and a 3rd.

but why/how because gagner himself was a 6th overall. Why a 9th overall pick this year which might be a prospect that could see NHL in 2016 be of more value than a guy drafted out of much better position, who played NHL starting from his rookie season til now producing

9th overall could be Logan Coutuer (who was #9 in Sam's year)

or Jacob Trouba (last year)
Dion Phaneuf in '03

Sam Gagner is a known asset, roughly a 40-50pt scorer, any first rounder is exciting :)

So Nick, which assets are you willing to sell for a pick similar to where they were taken?

I'll take one Marcus Foligno, please.
Hell, I might even give you my currently 11th overall pick for shitty Claude Giroux, taken 22nd.

Lee wroteCOLONI paid more than that for Gagner.

this is my favorite justification for turning down good offers.

i fucked up, so now im refusing fair value for him forever.

I don't think I fucked up. I paid what I thought he was worth, as did everyone else in the thread.

those are the two high-water marks of their spot selection, odds of doing better is basically zero.

There are some okay odds of getting a superior player to Sam Gagner with the 9 spot in this years draft. I was responding to Paul's commented of active #6 pick for future #9 pick. Dunno why you came back directly at me when Anton and Billy seem to be the ones saying that's a fair offer.

I'm not supporting 1:1, or Matt Fratiin +9, I didn't weigh in on it... just saying there is at least *some* potential for that piece to become the better piece. Recently the names at #9 spot are reassuringly good. Also a chance that it becomes a career AHLer. There is safety that Sam is a 2nd line Center. He's playing and contributing right now, no 8 month to 3 year wait.
