Shoalzie wroteCOLONI'll be curious to see who signs first...Gardiner or Shattenkirk.

Shattenkirk signs with the Lightning...that answers that question.

Signed him to a 1-year deal as well.

He was picked one spot ahead of another organizational washout in De La Rose that they picked up off waivers last year. I guess the Wings can be a rehab home for players that can't stick with the team that drafted them.

He's a guy Yzerman drafted so he's plenty familiar with him...I say why not?

4th liner in Tampa, so probably a 3rd liner on most teams. I could see a 20-20 guy.

Word is the canucks are giving Jim benning an extension. I think I'm gonna become a Seattle fan.

Chase Priskie signs with the Hurricanes...he was one of the bigger names to become a free agent at the August 15 signing deadline for some prospects in '14 and '15 drafts. Had a nice year with Quinnipiac last year. It sounded unlikely that he was going to sign with the Capitals.

Another bold reclamation signing by the Avs...they ink Nichushkin to a 1-year deal.

I also saw over the weekend that Alex Petrovic signed a PTO deal with the Bruins.

Nichushkin seems like a losing bet.

I like to see Nichushkin in another environment. Fresh start.

But they should actually try to use him properly, unlike Nail Yakupov who they just plopped in the bottom 6 very early when they were terrible.

seems like a 4th line Defensive winger now, he's gotta be hoping to jump up if an injury strikes

I remember when a good portion of Canucks fans were blasting management for drafting Horvat over this guy. Good times.

Nichushkin can actually play a bottom six role
