It makes plenty of sense that the expansion draft and the flat cap is going to make some of the veterans with term and an inflated cap number as either draft fodder or buyout options. Jeff Skinner is being exposed to the draft by Buffalo. I think some teams want to see if Ron Francis will save them from a bad contract situation. I can't imagine a new franchise will want to take on too many bad contracts just because they'll be made available.

We'll get to see the protection lists on the 18th...it's not too far away.

I think the only way it effects the press is if he files his retirements papers. If he just announces he can't play anymore due to retirement, I'm not sure if those recapture penalties still apply. Although I don't care and it just makes things easier for my Jets as the press would be fucked.

Wow, that's a bit if a shocker. I wonder if Seattle considers Jarry.

NHL teams probably have some sort of modeling that shows best case cap usage for Seattle, and I'd guess desmith at 1m is attractive, and jarry at 3.5m means seattle is more likely to take McCann. And They don't want to lose either goalie.
