Young and inexperienced? The kid lead his team to a gold medal this year at the U-18's and lead the tournament in scoring.

Sutter is a joke. Do you think Blysma would bench Crosby for half the 3rd period and all of OT because he took 2 penalties earlier in the game? McDavid is the most offensively gifted and dynamic player on the ice. Only Drouin's skill level compares to him. Canada's offense is already lacking on this years team..even a fucking retard can figure out that you're not supposed to bench your best player when your team is down by 1 goal or tied in the latter stages of a game.

Looking at the positives, I thought Lazar had a great 3rd period as he was consistently creating scoring chances driving to the net. Reminds me of a Dustin Brown type player.

Drouin probably had his best game of the tournament so far..kid has some ridiculous hands. Sweet shootout goal too. I thought Hudon looked good out there too..definitely deserves a regular shift on a line going forward.

A lot of people will blame Paterson for the loss but I don't think this one is on him at all. I thought he was solid. He didn't make the big save but he was good enough to get the W. He allowed a greasy first goal that went off a skate and another goal off a defelction by his own guy. Other goals were good snipes imo. Having said that, I think Fucale will get the start against the Slovaks and if all goes well, he'll probably be the starter going forward. Can't really disagree with that.

Also, I don't know the stats but outside of maybe Laughton, the boys are shit in the faceoff-circle. Not sure why Gauthier is playing wing but he's probably one of the better faceoffman on the team.

I agree with Paul as well. This isn't a make it or break it game, but it is a tourney usually one by the good team who came together the fastest. Benching a guy like McDavid shows that everyone will be held accountable and imo, that is a great thing overall for team Canada. Hard to argue when McDavid's replacements nets the goal that sent the game into overtime. Also He did get a chance in the shootout when it came down to having your most skilled players out there as well.

I've notice two major problems with out team thus far and the first of which is foot speed. Our forwards, other than a select few, aren't the fastest. This really hampered our forecheck and made it way too easy for the opposite D. Team Canada is usually known for forwards going in banging and crashing and these guys either aren't doing it, or can't because they aren't getting there.

Our 2nd weakness is too many laughton's and not enough forwards with offensive instincts. I think laughton has 3rd line in the nhl written all over him so I am ok with him being there. However, I feel there was too much focus on having defensive reliability that it caused us to leave some rather talented players off the team. Horvat has proven his ability to shut down the opposition as he has been hunters go to shut down forward the last two years. So, why not pair him with laughton and bring in a more offensive pieces for guys like Gauthier and Anderson? Their contribution thus far has been not hurting us, I'd rather guys that can help us. Shinkaruk being hurt really takes our offense down a step but I have to believe there is someone out there who gives us a better chance then our current bottom line.

I am ok with our defense. In fact after we get Reinhart back I think we will be rather good and mobile. I just wish they would stop it with the damn turnovers haha. I think the adjustment to big ice has been the biggest cause of that. They are under estimating their gaps and either making passes they shouldn't be, or not putting enough gusto on that pass. I think time will really help this out.

we didn't play our best but the czechs were highly motivated after getting smoked by states, and this is Canada's first loss to the czechs in this tournament so they were due

only thing I have to say is we suck horribly on faceoffs, 2 goals right off the dot is pretty inexcusable, and fucale needs to play the next game, pat wasn't bad but maybe he needs to sit to motivate him

The thing is..Winning and losing this game can be the difference between playing Sweden in the quarterfinals as opposed to a Switzerland. This wasn't a make it or break it game but losing this one was huge.

I agree with your last paragraph. Way too many "200 ft players", "grinders', "2 way players" on this team. If I had a say, my bottom 2 lines wouldve been:

Horvat - Laughton - Lazar
Rychel - Gauthier - Hudon

The thing is..we are currently using our "skilled guys" to kill penalties as opposed to using Gauthier/anderson etc. to kill penalties. Horvat, Lazar, Reinhart are all on our top 6 and get huge PP time..yet they are also our top Pkers. If you're not going to use your 3rd and 4th line to kill penalties, what are they doing then?

Agree with this entirely. Those guys were brought in to provide defensive minutes aka pk. Sutter is literally proving my point with his pk pairings. If your skilled players are better defensively then why bring those so called defensive specialists? I feel they only don't hurt us but don't help us either.

I'd love to have seen guys like Poirier and Domi given a shot. Sure would be nice to have Monahan, Shinkaruk, MacKinnon, Morgan Really, etc on this team. although every team seems to have a few big names missing this year.

Honestly, just subbing in Domi and a healthy Shinkaruk for 2 of Rychel, Gauthier, Anderson, Leier wouldve made a big difference.

McDavid - Reinhart/Horvat - Shinkaruk
