someone please explain to me, after looking at my team, why this is such a horrendous trade.

none of you offered anything close to what I got.

and I am being totally serious.

I ran the numbers of the 3 guys I got compared to Kane, and I increase in every category except face offs.

Have you all actually LOOKED at the shit I have for players???

Its not that you shouldn't be making trades for depth. Its why you needed to move Evander Kane who is of the top tier of BBKL pieces for what you got in return. If you actively shopped him for a few weeks you would have netted a nicer return. If Steve was pressuring you to do the deal right away, that should be an indicator that it might not be a very good deal for you, not saying he did or not just speculating.

dave even asked if i'd be ok if he shopped kane, i said no problem, take his time and if anyone beat my offer to let me have the chance to match it or beat it.

i'm actually not sure why so many guys have issues making deals...

Deals are easy:

1) read blocks
2) see what people want
3) offer that
4) work out something that works
5) post deal
6) be polite.

I have been offered trades for Kane since I started in this league I got nothing but shit offers for him

Its that there's no upside going to cbj in a deal for e kane, and daniel's getting old and worst. Thought Bruyns offer was better, especially if a + could've been pulled ontop.

I'm going to explain this in a nice way now:

1. Yes your team needs depth
2. But moving Evander Kane is not the way to get it as you traded away one of the best h2h wingers period away
3. Even if you traded away Evander Kane, the only deals you should move him in is a player who is CLOSE to him + depth or 2 solid h2hers. E.g. Imagine if Evander Kane is a 1A winger. You would need to get a package of "1B Winger + 2A W/D + prospect/1st round pick". Daniel Sedin is no longer a 1B winger. The other Packager you could have landed was a "1C Winger + a 1C Winger/D + prospect/pick". Examples? TJ Oshie + another solid solid winger from Steve. Not Daniel + Greening...
4. Why is Daniel Sedin bad? He isn't. He's a solid BBKL player. But the thing with him is that he can be had with pieces/lesser h2h players that will never add up to Kane with the adds you got from Steve. That is Daniel's trade value. So from a trade value stand point, you got crushed.
5. Why is Daniel Sedin bad as a roster player? He isn't. But he is 34 this year while Evander Kane is 22. You just gave up the next 8 years of prime time development of Kane + the added trade value you would get as he improves for a guy who is trending downwards. Again, Daniel is solid. But not for Evander.

There are more reasons but that is the gist of it.

I got a solid player in Greening, and a pretty decent Dman in Benoit. I have watched both of these guys play and they will consistently put up decent numbers.

Wait till this summer. I'm pretty sure Cam Ward ends up in Vancouver. And only reason it made sense is because you don't have a starter. Otherwise, it's a terrible offer - I'll be the first one to tell you that.

Greening and Benoit are not decent. They're filler pieces on 3rd/4th lines of most teams and can be had without losing a guy like Evander. In fact, I would argue that the bump in value Evander sees as he develops will >> Greening + Benoit

If I was moving Evander to Steve, I'd want Oshie + Greening + Morgan Rielly <-- This is the only kind of deal Evander should have been moved for. Minimum would be Oshie + Morgan Rielly and even that I dislike.

Evander is too weak tho. I was interested at first but i find he misses games frequently

He's 22 lol. he has plenty of time to figure it out because his prime hasn't even started.
