The fault falls on me then. At one point I was tasked with updating Phion's books because he went over both contract and asset numbers. That spreadsheet was created by me after reviewing his CBS and the forums. I do remember him being amongst his assets and I'm not sure why I didn't put him on the spreadsheet. I'm gonna do some more looking into what happened.

While we are talking about rules, anyone who misses GP and has been here over a year should have their pick moved to the ass end of the first round, regardless of where the pick finished.

Waiver draft should include all players listed as available on Fantrax. Good motivation to make sure GMs have claimed their players.

In a transition year with absent GMs that's a silly approach to take.

I'd hope we could get the absent GM's players on Fantrax. The platform shows all available players and it would be much simpler to be able to use that function rather than searching the forums. Not advocating for being able to claim absent GM's players.

Now - regarding Lethera - IMO it should go to Matt, however we have precedence of mis-placed assets being available for waiver draft-> as I recall assets being lost during my own PHI-TBL switch (which was just the name!) the NJD transition, and the PHX transition.
I dislike one-off decision making. It's always easy to rationalize a change of decision, but it becomes unfair over time. For that reason I believe we need to set clarity about how long an assets can go 'unowned/mentioned/logged/etc' for … and to me the roster submission needs to be a very real process & should be the standard measured against. This is difficult when we have GMs removed for their lack of record keeping, and the next guy is the one who is punished. So some-leeway needs to be built into the system, however it doesn't extend past 150 days, and I would expect any GM who finds a missing asset to make that GM aware, rather than seeing personal gain in the situation.

I already took care of PIT, SJS before Eric took over and completed Pete's. As far as I know all unowned teams are done.

He was acquired during the Phion days and on Phion's 2012-13 submission. Don't know that we can hold Matt accountable for Phion's mistakes. There's no record of the asset being traded or dropped so I think we should assume BUF still owns it.
Just saying, it doesn't take a release statement (or a trade) to make a player not owned.
In fact in standard situations any player not appearing in any submission entry at the start of the season is automatically considered free (be it a free agent or a player reserved for the draft).
Now, I suspect this was not a standard situation.. so I'm not taking a position just yet on what the decision should be.
One thing is for sure, Lehtera should not be a tradable asset for the time being.

He was claimed one week ago, previously he was nowhere including Fantrax.
Never claimed to have had him on Fantrax for a long time. My point was he wasn't included on the spreadsheet I was given and was always Buffalo property. I don't remember a lot of issues with Gaudreau and thought it was understood there were some issues with bookkeeping with Phion and if he wasn't on my spreadsheet or CBS it wasn't my fault. Why would I leave Gaudreau and Lehtera off my roster submission? I wouldn't unless I didn't know I owned them and I didn't know due to poor bookkeeping and a shitty fantasy platform in CBS.
link to the thread where the Gaudreau situation was discussed?
btw, as much as I hated it, I think CBS has nothing to do with it. All players should have been listed on CBS as much as on Fantrax, we used placeholders for that and if a player was missing was not because of him not being available on CBS.

You even questioned if a trade went through and once it was said that Holzer was on the other team's roster you didn't raise any other concerns.
As for CBS when I took over my placeholders did not have names attached to them, I had like 15 goalie placeholders and whoever was looking after the placeholders for the Sabres it made no sense. I attached the spreadsheet on page one that I was told was up to date and accurate and Gaudreau and Lehtera weren't on it and weren't on CBS. If they were then they obviously would have been on my roster submission, reversing a trade and stripping me of two assets when I have kept track of my own assets and did what I could with the resources provided would be an absurd decision and punish me when I don't see any reason for being punished.

I'm not going to refute his rights to him...I'm already looking at other options for the #1 pick. However, there should a seamless ownership of assets when a new guy takes over...everything that last guy had, the new guy should have. But, if someone falls through the cracks, they should be open to the entire league. You shouldn't have to doubt whether guy belongs to a team or not. They need to be listed somewhere on this site and on the spreadsheet along with Fantrax.
Agreed Scott and Fantrax will remedy this.
On CBS I didn't have Gaudreau or Lehtera, but on Fantrax we will have every asset we own on there so there will be no excuses. When a GM takes over they will have all their players instead of on CBS where I had like 20+ placeholders that I had no clue who they were for.
There were no excuses on CBS either. Having an asset symbolized by a placeholder instead of a real CBS player doesn't change anything as far as the ownership of the asset goes.
The unnamed placeholders you're speaking about were probably G placeholders used for picks and not players? I don't remember teams sporting other unnamed placeholders on CBS. It certainly should have NOT been the case anyway.

Alright enough. This is getting out of hand. I'm starting a thread in the CC to discuss it. For now the asset is frozen until we clear it up in the CC.

I think the concerns about Lehtera being still BUF property could be:
1- BUF being at 90 already without Lehtera (i.e. 89 + Gaudreau). That appears not to be the case:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... IVGc#gid=1
2- Gaudreau still being owned by BUF when Matt joined the league; so the question is: was Lehtera part of Phion roster submission for the 2012/2013 season?
3- was Matt indeed not provided any info that should have made him aware of being the owner of Lehtera?
I guess chuck should be the one able to answer the latter question. As for the 2nd one a quick search (i can not do it now) should do it.
If the answer to the 2nd question is YES
and the answer to the 3rd question is NO, I think Lehtera should be indeed considered still part of the Buffalo organization.
The much longer time passed by makes the situation different from Gaudreau's one only theoretically, since to my understanding over that time (and particularly leading to roster submission), Matt still had no reason to learn about Lehtera being a player of his.
He could have brought up the matter when he learnt about that through Scott, but that's not a good reason to take away his player if he does own him, even more so him being a recent addition which may have helped him not to pay much attention to the fact you can not own a player that wasn't on your roster submission in the first place (without acquiring him obv).

I went ahead in this thread as I saw no reasons not to express my opinion publicly.
I will copy and paste the same opinion if the discussion moves to the CC board.
