I haven't seen a lot of prospects yet but I'll rank 10 first round guys I've seen closely. Didn't include Crouse because his role in the WJC was too small and I haven't seen game film of him in the OHL.

The other way you can look at it is if owners are concerned about revenue then McDavid to Toronto makes the NHL a lot more money than McDavid to Arizona.

Think of all the merchandise the NHL could sell that would bring in a ton of revenue. I also strongly disagree with the McDavid will save the Coyotes argument. Pittsburgh was already a decent hockey market that had won Cups and had a fan base. Did Modano save the North Stars? Did Sakic save the Nordiques? Arizona is not a hockey market and they are going to get moved with or without McDavid since there are more desirable destinations with arenas or in the process of building them.

I don't believe for a second that the NHL is rigging the lottery anyways so all this discussion is pointless. If he ends up in Arizona it's because they won the lottery not because Gary decided he needed to turn Arizona into a hockey hotbed and if he ends up in Toronto it's because they won the lottery not because the NHL and it's owners are greedy and want to maximize revenue by putting a star in their largest market.

Personally I don't want to see him go to Arizona. They are assembling a lot of strong young pieces already, but at the end of the day I'm perfectly fine with the coyotes remaining somewhat irrelevant for the time being. Just not a franchise that would please me at all to see them improve, which definitely has something to do with me wanting the team to get moved when it was up for decision.

Personally id like to see either Carolina, Toronto or Buffalo.

Above my long response he had a long post talking about McDavid to Arizona makes sense if it was rigged and McDavid to Toronto makes no sense.

I think the Canadian market is mostly saturated. You can get a bit more out of it, but long term it won't make any difference. Sure, Pittsburgh is a good market because they had Lemieux and jagr. If Phoenix gets a superstar like mcdavid it will be a solid market in 20 years time too. The potential growth of the game is far greater long term in the south if the NHL can make it apart of the culture in those places.

For what it's worth I don't think it's rigged either. I do wish they would do the lottery on tv though. It would be 10 times more exciting than some fat bald guy showing us big cardboard squares.

You know what would be so exciting? If during the draft lottery they pulled out 2 final boards. #2 says Seattle. #1 says Las Vegas.

Whether you like the idea of those cities or not, it would be one hell of a way to announce the teams. And they would get superstars right away to build around.

Pretty sure Lee was predicting NHL rankings, BBKL value doesn't always equal NHL value for players.

Those are my rankings of just 10 guys I've seen closely. Doesn't even mean I rank them like that for BBKL lol.
