Got caught in by a late season surge by Kassian and Forsberg getting thrown around multiple homes.
Knew the risk I was making at the time but i expected the production we have seen the past 1.5 months out of Kassian all season. And Forsberg has played at the absolute peak we could have expected.
Still worst trade I made.
It happens. I traded Brad Marchand and a 2nd for Stefan Elliot. Everyone has trades that haunt them.
I hate myself for trading you tank.
Was fair value at the time; wheeler, Salvador and I think a pick or something. I still hate myself for it though And ignore any thread that includes tarasenko because I get depressed thinking about it. I always knew he'd be a fucking star.
*shrug* shit happens.

Yah, I lucked out there. At the time though Penner was killing it and fistric putting up great periphs. Also, hammer was looking like a 20 pts dman. Its only this season he's really broken out offensively.

But even to this day, Wheeler as a BBKL players puts up more stats than Tara. Only reason i did that was for cap reasons. I overpaid for youth, upside and savings. The pick was a first. Compare these two:

that is not a trade that you should consider anywhere even close to a loss.

I cycled it poorly too though
.
Also, I'd still much rather tank lol.
Its OK though, sometimes you luck into other deals. For instance I helped josh out last year by taking contracts off his hands for my waiver pick. Nestrasil, one of the guys I got, is all of a sudden turning into a bit of a player in Carolina, something I had no expectations of. i was honestly just trying to help josh out since i have so many openings in terms of contracts and roster spots.

You also got Macmillan in the deal who got some good gp for you as well. Maybe when I'm offering guys for late round picks people should pay a bit of attention haha

I agree with Cam, Wheeler is very good and as valuable as Tara in this format. You win that trade getting a first too. Wheeler for Hishon + Ehrhoff + Marchenko is the trade you should be complaining about.

Yah, I mentioned that the cycle was poor and is reaaally what killed me there. To be fair though, ehrhoff was a pretty studly BBKL player in buffalo. He's done shit all in Pitt.

That's right, I did also get Macmillan who was in fact useful to me this season.

Yep I traded for him last offseason in another league expecting better stats.

I like this Game.
First Trade: A week before my trade freeze was over Fraser and I agreed on Zbynek Michalek [D] for Jamie Oleksiak [D] & Adam Clendening [D] which I believe I am still okay with as I quite like Oleksiak, and Clendening may be a PP Specialist eventually. However, had I kept Michalek, I may have very well made the Playoffs, as I would have had 3 top 8 D-Man shtoi guys and a ton of blocks. It would have been a quick exit anyways, so this is better for my future. (Fairly luck I didnt get raped badly on this deal as I still had absolutely no idea what I was doing)
Worst Trade: I've only made 12 trades so far, and I haven't traded away many young players given I started with all 30+ players so I havent been open to a lot of risk yet., but my worst trade would have to be possibly trading away Colton Sceviour for keith Ballard + 2nd + 3rd given Ballard basically retired directly after that transaction.
Best Trade: Jakub Kindl + 2nd rounder for Paquette(better stats than girgensons had in his rookie year last season) + Booth + 7th

Ended up pretty much washing on that Michalek trade. Ended up getting Armia and a 2nd for him. Personally I like Armia a bit more than Oleksiak, but I'm willing to admit that being close in value currently. Will be interesting to see what the 2nd can turn into for me.
Now for best trade there's a couple that come to mind.
To VAN:
Calvin de Haan
Shea Theodore
Stuart Percy
2015 1st Rounder (CHI)
To CHI:
Mike Green
Andreas Athanasiou
This trade did a lot for me. As De Haan was a key piece for landing Giordano, After liquidating him into a 1st Percy helped me land Skinner, the Chicago 1st allowed me to trade for my own 1st this year. And Theodore is looking like one of the top defenders outside the NHL. All key pieces to my projected team make up.
But I probably side with this one.
To Philadelphia:
Mikael Granlund
2016 2nd Rounder (VAN)
To Vancouver:
Jake Virtanen
Mike Reilly
Michael Keranen
2015 1st Rounder (ANA)
This deal really sprung my re-build into action, getting 2 high end prospects and a top 10 pick in this years draft. This is the trade I look back on as my best.

Long term you definitely kill in both your 'best' deals, imo. The ANA 2015 1st alone could be better than Granlund + 2nd given it's 10th overall(Barzal?) in this draft...and then Virtanen is a 6th overall.

I think only time will tell if that is such a good deal.. or even a bad deal, actually.
