Pretty hilarious coming from the guy who got Scherbak, a 1st, and a 3rd for Ribiero and a 4th and didn't think he got enough. And you don't think Hossa is worth a 1st round pick by himself? LOLz! How is that bubble that you live in?

Hossa is certainly worth a 1st. Under contract at a reasonable price.

Casper, Hossa is 37 midway through next season and is a winger making 5.275 million that you are trying to sell a year before the playoffs. Ribeiro was a 34 year old center who was making 1 million (a cap ridiculously helpful to cap crunched competing teams), and he was a deadline acquisition, aka the very last piece added by a competing team, like i said.
Two pretty different situations.
Edit: And I really like Hossa too. But if I was looking at staying in this league for 15 years, 2 years of hossa and 15 years of the upside of a 1st round talent are unequal to me in the long run. However, I know I would love to add Hossa to my team for less than a 1st.

You're right they are two completely different situations. Hossa is worth MORE than Ribiero ever will be in his lifetime. They are both old so your age argument goes out the window. You can make an argument for cap, but that doesn't make him more value simply that he is easier to trade because more teams can fit him under the cap at the deadline. Theoretically in the off season there should be a larger market for Hossa seeing as half the teams in the league haven't given up on their season as of yet and it is easier to figure out how to fit his cap under. Then there is the matter of Hossa being a player that is 10 times better than Ribiero could ever hope to be and produced far more stats than Ribiero.
Ribiero wishes Hossa would let him cup his balls in his mouth just so that he can taste what greatness really is!

Keep telling yourself that, Casper. 3 years in ones 30s is a big difference, cap does matter, as does position. I tried selling Ribeiro for pretty much what i got for him at the deadline, in october when i entered the league. I had to wait to the deadline for people to decide to go all in. And Hossa can be as good as he wants, but Ribby = 62 points in 82 games, Hossa = 61 Points in 82 games. It is difficult to tell the difference on paper.

There is a 1 in 3 chance that first round pick never amounts to being an NHL player. If that pick winds up in the 20's than it becomes an almost 50/50 proposition. You mean to tell me a flip of the coin is worth more than 2 years of 1st line ELITE production? GTFO! You embarrass yourself.

Mattew actually sounds intelligent and casper sounds dumb....
Because only when dallas trades mcdavid (sure thing) for 3 meh picks and 5 prospects, u wud only argue those picks can be great contributing prospects? Lol

Hossa: Ribiero
2014-2015 - .74 ppg
8.9 shot % 2014-2015 - .75 ppg 15.6 shot %
2013-2014 - .83 ppg 12.4 shot % 2013-2014 - .59 ppg 14.5 shot %
2012-2013 - .78 ppg 14.7 shot % 2012-2013 - 1.02 ppg 20.6 shot %
2011-2012 - .95 ppg 11.7 shot % 2011-2012 - .85 ppg 12.7 shot %
2010-2011 - .88 ppg 12.2 shot % 2010-2011 - .87 ppg 11.8 shot %
Scoring wise yes. Hossa had a season in line scoring wise with career averages while having a career low season in shoot percentage. He didn't suddenly forget how to shoot he simply had a hard luck season and still scored at a 60 pt clip.
Lets leave out all of Hossa's shtoi and other periph stats that he brings to the table across the board while Ribiero brings none of that. Hossa is literally 1 year older and never has had a season as poor as Ribiero's 2013-2014 season. There is literally no argument for Ribiero being worth more than Hossa. And you think Hossa doesn't net a 1st round pick? LOL! Game over.

We are hijacking his thread. You can post as much as you want about it, but I am done after this post.
Hossa and Ribeiro had = point production, yet Ribeiro was 11.5% more effective in BBKL this season, despite Hossa's shtoi and Shots. Position matters. And your above chart on point production looks pretty equal other than that 1 outlier season by ribeiro.
Idgaf about Ribeiro. He isnt my player. You are taking one trade and saying because i probably got overpaid for ribby, you should get overpaid for Hossa. We are talking about true value, not overpayments. I paid less for Del Zotto than I was given for Ribeiro. Del Zotto is a 24 yr old who had a better season than Ribby or Hossa, BBKL production-wise. Maybe you should compare Hossa's value to MDZ or 1000 other trades, rather than 1 specific trade.

Nigga GTFO! How exactly is a PROSPECT than hasn't taken 1 NHL shift a sure thing? People are ready to cradle this guys balls like he is already the greatest player to ever grace the NHL. There is nothing meh about the prospects that he took in the first round in particular Strome and Connor. In fact Connor will be better than Strome imo.
Krug
Del Zotto
Neito
2016 1st
Connor
Meier
Ek
2016 2nd
McDonald
etc
etc
etc
etc
Are you seriously going to argue that McDavid by himself will give him more production than that collective group of players?
Just stop lol!

Actually
I'm willing to say mcdavid alone is worth more pts alone than all of those in his prime years
Even tho we aren't a points only league, that says a lot about mcdavid
