mmmmh.. this deal could turn out less effective than expected for Scott.
I wonder about the cap numbers and if other teams would take him off Red Wings' hands.
At the very least, i think this would make Neel able to finally complete a deal... i mean, something more significant than
this one

Nabby sucks anyway, 3.02 GAA .880 or something SV% in the KHL. He'll be the backup if anything or start for Grand Rapids. Signing him will light a fire under Howard's ass which is a good thing for me.. it's probably a tactic by Holland and staff to do just that.

Doubtful, Nabakov is one of the best statistical goaltenders since the lockout. The playoffs have been a struggle for him, but at least he has experience. If no one claims him, this is bad, bad news for the New Jersey Devils of the BBKL.

His GAA and SV% haven't been that great since the lockout. Just the wins from being on the beastlike San Jose team.
2005-06 San Jose Sharks NHL 45 2575 133 2 1 3.10 16 19 7 1027 0.885
2006-07 San Jose Sharks NHL 50 2778 106 4 7 2.29 25 16 4 1121 0.914
2007-08 San Jose Sharks NHL 77 4561 163 6 6 2.14 46 21 8 1639 0.910
2008-09 San Jose Sharks NHL 62 3686 150 0 7 2.44 41 12 8 1513 0.910
2009-10 San Jose Sharks NHL 71 4194 170 2 3 2.43 44 16 10 1998 0.922

Save for 05-06 those are very, very strong numbers, especially the GAA, and it's not like he's moving to a rebuilding team, he is moving to arguably the best built team in hockey.

I'd say Nabakov if signed has about a 5% chance of clearing waivers.. if that.

Definitely higher than that, or the Wings wouldn't waste their time signing him. I imagine it will be a multi year deal to ward off potential claiming teams.

i'm hearing multi-year + no trade clause attached to fend off people who think they can get him then trade him.

He's have to clear waivers again in order to be traded, according to Twitter.

They'd be better off signing him for a large 1 year contract, but less dollars now because it's halfway through. Like a $4mil 1 year, only like 2mil now.

Wings have 574 000 in space. So contract is rumoured to be 570 000. This includes IR space etc. As Shiv has said people are saying more than 1 year with a NMC. Also osgood out 6 weeks and a UFA at seasons end. Detroit seems to be moving in another direction, also Huzzah!

OMG IM FUCKING PANICKING:
USA Today’s Kevin Allen:
We can presume he will be signed, but what we don’t know is whether he would get through waivers still belonging to the Red Wings.
My guess is that the Red Wings won’t be paying Nabokov too much more than the minimum $550,000 contract. What that means is that some team might be tempted to grab Nabokov.
The Washington Capitals like their young goalies, but would they consider bringing in Nabokov as an insurance policy? Would the Ottawa Senators bring him in to add a spark to their playoff hopes? Are the Philadelphia Flyers satisfied with their goalkeeping?
There aren’t many teams that would be interested in Nabokov, but it would only take one.

Darren Dreger on Twitter:
@capgeek. Deal still isn’t done, but $570,000 for the rest of the year is what I’m told. Pro-rated to about $250,000.
...
Hard to imagine Nabokov doesn’t get claimed at $570,000 or as the last tweet indicated...roughly $250,000 pro-rated.

I didn't even think about the Sens or Flyers, but they seem like logical destinations.
