i always thought being clutch, a complete forward, a terrific leader who is hard working as ALWAYS shows up was EXACTLY what a top franchise player was.

and because hes not as good as toews .Snipeshow wroteCOLONIt's because Backstrom is European..
did yo see him set the playoff record for the hawks with regards to points in consecutive playoff games? I think it was like 13 or something stupid.kyuss wroteCOLONSuperMario wroteCOLONnot a chance. toews is a franchise player. backstrom is a supplementary piece to a franchise player. and dont show me point totals lol. toews >> backstrom imo.Snipeshow wroteCOLONBackstrom is 100% in discussions vs. Toews.
this reminds me of when during Jordan Staal's first NHL season i was considered blasphemous on HF for saying i would have still (had the same argument before the draft) picked Backstrom ahead of Staal.
I would pick Backs ahead of Toews in a heartbeat, even with the intangibles Toews brings. Those don't make Jonathan a franchise player sorry.. he has the head and the guts to be one, but not the game. Franchise players carry their line, Toews hardly does. It's more Kane carrying their line play.
Actually it's Toews being the perfect supplementary piece as far as the play goes.
i guess we simply have a different concept of franchise player.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLON It is a factor, because anyone who knows hockey and has seen Toews play can plainly see that he is a franchise player
LOL, and btw, he was not even close to be the best player in the finals at least.saying otherwise is the equivalent of me claiming OV is not a sniper...How anyone can call the best player on the SC winning team non franchise caliber is beyond me,
the only argument i see non-debatable is he was the leading scoreronly explanation I can think of is that you don't watch him alot. Like I said above, it's not debatable, certain arguments are, this isn't...
i talked about a HEALTHY Gaborik, which is not the one GMs are considering. . even when he is healthy today, they know he probably won't be for long. If Gaborik stayed HEALTHY he would score more than 50 every other here and be the 2nd best winger in the game, whereas Toews is not even close to be top 5 center in the league. So much for your laughing lol..And LMAO at the Gaborik comment...There isn't one NHL GM who takes a 40 goal winger over a ppg (with potential for much more) centerman who can pass, score, dominate the circle, engage physically, lead, and defend his positition. Not even one...
oh, and i never referred to Gaborik as franchise player. It's not the way i would call Pavel Bure either.. that doesn't make your little Toews a better player lol.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONNope, a one dimensional goal scoring winger is...SuperMario wroteCOLONi always thought being clutch, a complete forward, a terrific leader who is hard working as ALWAYS shows up was EXACTLY what a top franchise player was.
yeah, and i saw Briere outscore him despite not having Kane on his line, yet no one feels like that proves Daniel is god.KapG wroteCOLON did yo see him set the playoff record for the hawks with regards to points in consecutive playoff games? I think it was like 13 or something stupid.
