The 8 hours scares me with picks around 10-11PM. Someone could legitimately be asleep for their entire window.
Then more people need to use the buddy system and forward a few selections to someone. You should be responsible for knowing you are up soon. Sure, a bunch of picks made quickly puts you on the clock during off peak hours. But that is absolutely not the case here.

yeah that’s why we have 12 hrs for first 3 rounds where dropping even only one spot can be a difference maker

Lee wroteCOLONAnother idea I was toying with was slotted times, but when doing the math it didn't work out so well. Maybe someone could extrapolate on the idea.
Pick one is on the clocked from 8 am - 9 am
2 is 9 am - 10 am
3 is 10 am - 11 am
etc
your timer does not end until your alloted time expires, meaning if a of picks 1-2 go quickly, you still have until 11 AM to make your pick.
THe issue comes when reaching off peak hours. It's unreasonable to expect someone to be on the clock for an hour at 3 am. Using this method over a 12 hour time span per day would put us right around pick 48 ( very rough, quick math) right now. That sounds good now but the math yesterday put us father behind, not so much now that there have been so few picks over the last 20 hours.
12 picks a day sounds nice to me.
This is what we do in IFFHL, whole draft is slotted and you can't get skipped until your alloted time expires, so when the draft moves quick you get extra time to play with but everyone knows ahead of time when they're picking. Offhand I think it's 3 hour windows starting at 7am through 1am so 6 picks a day but we typically get ahead of the slots. Slots could get smaller since we have many more picks in here.

I’d be okay with it being 2 hour time slots. With an overnight freeze.

Sadly it won't happen because people as a whole are not fans of personal responsibility. It's the same with taxes, they will curse them in one breath while praising this nice free cast on a broken foot, or those nice roads in another. Don't mind the pot holes.

He has a responsibility to pick within 12 hours. Your impatience doesn't change that. Or my impatience. F that dude.

I've always felt that being opinionated is better than being a mindless sheep, even if those opinions are unfounded. It's a learning experience if nothing else.

No one is saying he doesn't. I am more talking about having a limited window of 2 hours with prior knowledge of when your pick is on the clock, rather than 12 hours and having people overlap extended down times. If your pick is up at 2 PM, it's your responsibility to make your pick before 2 PM. Right now there are no stop gaps in place to prevent one person from use full clock times repeatedly to extend the length of the draft. If one wanted to, they could make the draft last until after the NHL draft.

I can understand when a person can't get on...but when they spend all day on another site...it can be frustrating.

2 hour slots wouldn't really work. under my proposal, the draft could take longer than it currently does. it would take 18 days to complete a 217 pick draft with 1 hour timers over a 12 hour daily period. However, it would prevent long unexpected stretches like we have now in favor of overnight stretches. That is less pressure for someone to log in to make their pick at 3 am in the morning. We would see multiple transactions per day rather than 20 + hour periods of inactivity that we currently see.
I'd have no reason to bitch. How is that for incentive.

Yeah he is probably using private mode so he doesn't show up in the user list but I can see that he was last online 22 minutes ago.

Waiting sucks, but the whole point is to start in time to finish the draft before the NHL one starts and we have lately finished WAY early.

youre happy waiting 20+ hours between picks when there is a better solution?

If we are going to change then we should start later too, that's all I'm saying.
