Ryan Miller was injured on that hit, did not come out for the third.

Here is his quote after the game:
"I'm not really going to get into that," Miller said in TD Garden. "I just stuck around because I wanted to say what a piece of [feces] I think Lucic is. Fifty pounds on me, and he runs me like that? It's unbelievable. Everyone in this city see him as a big, tough, solid player. I respected him for how hard he plays. That was gutless. Gutless. Piece of [feces]."

When asked if the response would have been different if Thomas had been hit like that. "We wouldn't accept anything like that. We would have taken care of business, but we're a different team than they are."
awesome response by Lucic though

I thought it was a classless play by lucic... Running a goalie so blatantly is not legit IMO

No doubt Bruins would empty their bench for Thomas if situations were reversed.

I loved it! Never watched the game but got the highlights. Seems to me it jumpstarted the team to a great victory. That is the way he has to play to be effective. Hes one of those guys you love to hate unless hes on your team.

I don't disagree, I'm jealous you guys have him, ditto with Chara, those two really set the tone physically. There isn't another team that can match outside of maybe the Anaheim Ducks and St. Louis Blues.

Yea, I always think of the Ducks the year they won the cup. They brought an approach no one had for years and basically bullied there way to the championship. So awesome to watch. Pretty sure that was Burke's team was it not?

It was indeed. Current ducks IMO no where as tough as that group was. I think the only reason they are still regarded as "tough" is a reputation they earned then. Tougher than average maybe, but thats about it now.

Gotta disagree Neel, the likes of: Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry, Francois Beauchemin, George Parros, Devante Smith-Pelley and Luca Sbisa will go toe to toe with anybody, the Ducks are one of those teams that never let a cheap shot or hit to one of their players go unpunished. The only difference between the current iteration, and the SC version is Pronger, and granted that is a huge physical presence, but it takes more than one player to establish the physical tone, it's a team commitment, and the Ducks still have it.

Pronger is one of the most physical players to ever play and he most definitely sets a tone. That cup winning ducks team was tough top to bottom, looking at the current team I see Koivu, Cogliano, Jason Blake, Visnovsky. There are a ton of tough elements left on that team, but their are almost entire lines without the toughness and grit that the cup winning team had. They are easily a step lower then that team was, and while they still agitate I don't think they are in that category anymore. Still tougher than an average team, but nothing compared to the team that won a cup. And yes Pronger is a huge part of that, he brings that to any team. But they also lost a lot of character and grit guys.

There isn't a single player in the NHL that sets the tone physically by themselves...Not one. Especially a guy like Pronger who is relied on heavily to play the game, if he is constantly fighting the battles you aren't going far as a team, nor are you intimidating many teams, what makes the Bruins intimidating is that anyone on that team (with a few exceptions) can muck it up physically, and that everyone on the opposition needs to be on high alert when Boston comes to town, not just the enforcers.

I'm also curious as to who you would rank ahead of Anaheim, I can only think of two (St. Louis and Boston), but according to you they are only better than average...

One guy that holds so much value for the Bruins is Shawn Thornton. A former Duck from the cup year. I know he may be a dyeing breed but he has some skill to go along with his fists and will stand up to any team or player for his team-mates.

Speaking of toughness, I wish the Leafs had some more sandpaper in their lineup, but not just a Colton Orr type, someone who can play and help set the tone. A guy like Chris Neil has really impressed me this season for the Ottawa Senators, hopefully Tyler Biggs can develop into a similar player when he is ready, or the Leafs make a play for a PF ala Chris Stewart.

Neil is too much of a dirtbag for me. Stewart is nice but his value seems to exceed his contributions.
