It's hard to stay up exactly with that site because they'll change players' names often. 95% of the names in my database match Fantrax because most players have a well known name with no variation. The ones that give us the most trouble are those Russian names with two distinct spellings of last names.

I have my own twist with names like when I have two guys named Sebastian Aho...I'll look for a middle initial to tell them apart (Sebastian J. Aho is part of the Islanders organization) or I'll just put "(II)" after the name if the other player of the same name is retired or lesser known. I can't list guys by exactly the same name with the referencing I do over various sheets. Each player has to have their own unique identity.

You should always search the draft thread for the names of players and look up parts of names because of alternate spellings and aliases. Once the draft is over, I'll keep tabs on you guys claiming your players and I'll make sure my rosters match yours. We'll have a few months to get this all right and we're at least two months away from the actual draft happening.

FT changes players names every summer, it's annoying AF from a DB perspective

Also annoying, EP added in players names to the URL's (presumably for SEO purposes) but it makes automatically pulling data on a mass scale harder.

You know me, I'm stubborn and like to look up a player's information up one-by-one and I'll keep track of their individual site links. I'm past the point of matching these sites with names. As I say, I stick with a name that I use and don't change it often because it screws up all my listings.

I won't bother to start entering the draftees' information until after the NHL draft happens and then on NHL.com, I use their information primarily. Then I'll use EP for our undrafted guys. Right now, all the guys we draft are just names in the database with no information attached to it. All 2020 draftees are new entries to my database.

I think both Shep & Monk are otc right now.

Monk came otc at 1154pm, and ended at 754am. At 754am his pick became a "pick at anytime pick."

I think our standard rule when teams miss their 7th round pick and we finish the draft, teams have up to 24 hours to make their outstanding picks or they're officially dropped.

So if a team has two picks in a row and the first expires, are we now waiting 8 hours for the next one? Or does it pass over that one too? I ask because I’ll be going to bed in an hour or two and don’t want to hold up the draft after Colorado picks/expires
