anton wroteCOLONit's been a strange fuckin season overall.

the leading scorers list is so vastly different than is has been in recent years. early on everyone was saying "oh, its so early, the usual suspects will be back eventually" but we're fuckin a quarter of the way through and it still looks like this:

1. Phil Kessel
2. Joffrey Lupul
3. Claude Giroux
4. Kris Versteeg
5. Thomas Vanek

Stamkos? Ovechkin? Thornton? Staal? Getzlaf? Perry? Iginla? Nash? St. Louis?

To be fair Stamkos is close...and easy striking distance, ditto on Jumbo... other guys I dunno.

Kopitar is doing better than either Stamkos or Jumbo, and Kessel, Giroux and Vanek aren't exactly out of nowhere, all three are expected to produce ppg or higher, especially Vanek.

You said 3, assuming you were referring to Kessel, Vanek, Giroux

The Kopitar comment was separate, he is expected to be a top 10 points guy year in and year out.

Really skilled up the middle plays are coming back, speed on the outside seems to be very much neutralized. Obv breakaways and flat-footed dmen aside; everything seems to depends on a guy being best early, or a Dman making the rush odd-maned.

Leafs aside, I've been enjoying this year much more then years past, simply nicer goals and faster passed games every year it seems!!!

Our blueline is doing some amazing work lately.

Biggest difference these last few games is goaltending. Gustavsson has been solid, a bit lucky on a few plays, but good players create their own luck, and right now Gustavsson is a good player. Hope he keeps this up.

So is the monster going to have ANY impact whatsoever in terms of trading value within this coming week??? That is the real question. Does Cliff make a move or not?!?

I don't think he wants or needs to making a goaltending swap... Gus is doing work and he owns both Scrivens and Reimer ==== waiver exempt, cheap, goaltending setup for a team in 3rd place overall... that's a mighty fine situation.

Crabb is working out great as an injury fill in guy for me. Dude deserves his spot.

I have learned from my own mistakes that you do not trade actual NHL roster players for 5th round picks. That is about what people want to pay for 3rd and 4th line players. It pays to hold on and have injury depth.
