I definitely would have improved my offer significantly if he asked for more, but didnt hear back if it was even close. The problem is I had to include high value assets like a lottery pick or prospects and didn't have the depth to offer up 3 solid NHLers.
It is telling that no one has posted a better offer than what Steve made. He just lucked out and had expendable pieces to get it done and I'm definitely a little jealous of that.

If no one makes you a good deal you don't just take the bad deal and say post the better offers....you keep your player.

They have a point though. The huge value disparity between teams is a testament to how our league is a community first and a league second.
The lower end teams get their yearly fix by things like finding underrated talent, drafting smart etc. Solid job by a lot of them. And a few will eventually compete with the foundations they've put in place.

hopefully Dave doesn't get too annoyed by the overreactions...
the things i'd question are why making a post to shop Kane and then post the deal before half the league could see it, or if he didn't reply some PMs: offers might get better/more fitting on 2nd/3rd tries...
aside from that, the deal isn't even remotely close to some real BAD deals we have witnessed in the past.
And everyone here seems to consider D.Sedin done as a top winger.. at his age and the style he plays that seems like a premature assumption.
I realize he could have probably got a better package considering the allure surrounding E.Kane, but it's not even a given he will be looked at as the loser of this deal one year from now.

Mik is right, a down injury riddled year for Sedin, totally possible he returns to PPG form.
