Spreadsheets (2015-2016)
Re: Spreadsheets (2015-2016)
like in the past, players just selected in the waiver draft can be freely start in the minors no matter if eligible (and what the spreadsheet tells), right?
(obviously would still be exposed to waivers when trying to move them down after a call up happened)

Re: Spreadsheets (2015-2016)
... was my understanding that if the player is waiver eligible, then he needed to clear regardless of when he was acquired. Why I stayed away from some of the older guys.
Re: Spreadsheets (2015-2016)
that would make 99% of newly signed non-NHL vetarans (already 26yrs old) worthless.
NHL teams initially can freely send them down in AHL so that's what happens to the vast majority of them. If we can't start them in the minors even after picking them up in the Waiver draft (in the past a Waiver draft pick had the benefit over a regular pick up from waivers that it would allow doing so), we have two completely different situations in NHL & BBKL when it comes to that category of players.

I don't remember that in the past. Last year Kontiola was taken 2nd overall I think and I claimed him at roster submission whe he was waived. He never was able to be freely placed in the minors.
Any recent examples of players being sent down without minors?

yea lol if you drafted waiver eligible dudes in waiver draft, its on you to keep them up in your NHL roster... you never are able to place any player of any sorts in the minors without having to pass them thru waivers (if eligible) before submission like ever lol... what is this kyuss lol

I believe Matt and Paul are right. I've never heard of this waiver immunity for waiver picks until today lol.
Re: Spreadsheets (2015-2016)
any long time member should remember that. dont have the time to look back in the past these 2 days
Re: Spreadsheets (2015-2016)
so ur saying nick shouldn't have lost Kontiola here?: http://bbkl.ca/viewtopic.php?p=190958#p190958kyuss wroteCOLONany long time member should remember that. dont have the time to look back in the past these 2 days
Re: Spreadsheets (2015-2016)
if he had Kontiola up at season roster submission, then he did need waivers to be assigned to the minors for the 1st match-up of the season.
If instead Kontionla was already down in the minors at roster submission, he didn't need to clear waivers to stay there.
This is what we've been using in the past for players selected at the waiver draft:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=9761#p1409362-5 : During waiver draft any available veteran claimed can start the year in the minors or your line-up waiver free, however; if waiver eligible they will be subject to waiver wire upon first send down / call up.
Re: Spreadsheets (2015-2016)
Seems outdated since there are no longer waivers when you call up. With that rule you wouldn't be able to call him up without him clearing waivers so he would have had to clear waivers at some point. What you are asking about is placing a waiver eligible player in the minors and then calling him up again without waivers so essentially he would be treated as waiver exempt which is different then the above rule where they need to clear waivers to be called up.
Nick never had the chance to place Kontiola in the minors he lost him since he assumed waiver eligible players need waivers to be sent down. Not that it matters since Kontiola eneded up useless.

Re: Spreadsheets (2015-2016)
he should have had that chance at roster submission.
The CBA is outdated and the call-up part was not deleted, but iirc those players could be called up once without undergoing waivers (only the 1st time after the waiver draft), otherwise it would have been basically impossible to use them during the season.
I don't remember that rule changing or announcements on the matter.
If it did change, for the reasons stated above I think it was a change for the worse.

Re: Spreadsheets (2015-2016)
I don't think it makes claiming older vets useless. If you think they'll make the roster then go for them. If not you place on waivers and risk losing them. Not a lot of teams have room to pick up non-nhlers off waivers and keep them on their NHL roster. It's part and parcel, but I think the waiver rule should be consistent across the board.
Re: Spreadsheets (2015-2016)
whatever people might like, I'd like to know when that rule changed.
Re: Spreadsheets (2015-2016)
Anyone else notice contracts are not sliding on the new spreadsheet ? I counted 48 contracts not including my two sliders, and my contracts are at 50/50
Re: Spreadsheets (2015-2016)
It tells you which of those contracts that can slide under the "slide" heading. But you need to explicitly show you are sliding them by changing the W1/M/B2 bit to S1.

Can someone tell me when NHL rosters are set? Is it the same day as BBKL's submission? Do we have to submit before we know if players have made teams?

Re: Spreadsheets (2015-2016)
There is one last preseason game today...Islanders-Capitals at 5.
I don't think NHL rosters will be set until tomorrow at the earliest. There will be a lot of cuts made today, I imagine...most teams are down to their last few cuts to make. There's a few PTOs remaining as well. I'm waiting on Jack Skille's fate in Colorado before I have my final roster set. Hopefully I'll know by tonight and I'll post mine then.

Question about LTIR. Can you submit a roster over the salary cap when including a players LTIR hit, but under when excluding it?

Re: Spreadsheets (2015-2016)
Hey guys General Fanager is awesome, but when you go through the team, remember the money value it shows it Cap Hit. To get the players AAV you have to click on the player. In many of my players the Cap Hit and the AAV are quite different. Since reading we are using AAV I had to change a quite a few players salaries on my spreadsheet.
For example when I click on Edmonton's page it says Griffin Reinharts cap as 832,500, but his AAV is 3,213,333.
